Damn, it sounds like it's all gonna be sold out by tomorrow night.

Possibly. Though if the line outside was really as light as people are saying, maybe not. The inside line was starting to die down when I left around 8:15.

You can always call them to check.

I luckily timed this perfectly. Arrived at 6:57 with no line and was one of the last to be sold to before they moved inside.

Then I went inside to have a few drinks and was shocked that by 7:10 there was a line out the door.

How's Punge? Untappd reviews are slamming the cans.

Pretty much par for the course, Tired Hands beers are typically much better 10-14 days after canning. To each their own though.

Buncha fucking amateurs, opening a Tired Hands IPA can the day of canning.

I had my last Eviscerated Pathway of Beauty over the weekend. 2 months old was a wonderful age for that beer. It seems to be pretty beer-specific with regards to age, but 1-2 weeks is a pretty good guide as far as minimum time - though I'm gonna have to crack a Punge tomorrow because I simply cannot wait that long. 2 days is usually enough time to at least have the carbonic bite these get on canning day go away,

I still have a few cans of EPoB, glad to hear it's still good. The last time I cracked one a few weeks ago, it was awesome.

Edit: Just called the Ferm, cans sold out.

I have always heard this but to my taste they always taste the best on canning day and then slowly but surely day after day the taste/aroma fades - I think mainly because they are aroma-driven beers.

I know this is not the popular opinion. Also a lot of TH beers I have found (not just milkshakes) get snowgloby sometimes after even a week.

Maybe we can all agree that there isn't a single, consistent Best By ____ timeline, and that it's almost certainly beer-dependent? I've experienced both above scenarios with various different beers to differing degrees.

If Tired Hands is going to tell people their beer is "hyper fresh, unfiltered, and fragile" and to "Enjoy Contents ASAP", then they probably shouldn't sell beer that is still green and hasn't finished conditioning. Which sounds like what is happening if the beer improves after a couple weeks in the fridge.

No, it's definitely not green. Beer that is force-carbed sometimes acquires a bite that disappears over time. Most of the times I've cracked one a day or two later, the bite isn't there, but a couple times I opened a HopHands right away, and it was. It's certainly not something that is unique to Tired Hands, I wouldn't think.

Interesting. Could you explain a bit more about what you mean by "bite"? I'm not a homebrewer and really don't know much about how these beers are carbonated or packaged. But I do believe I've experienced something similar to what you're describing... Almost like a fleeting sharpness of the flavor profile that I really only get on beers that were just canned. I've always chalked it up to that common "green" descriptor, but I have noticed a difference between overly hopped beers that seem to get smoother over a couple weeks as the hop aromas/bitterness dissipates vs. this post-packaging sharp sensation.

Oh, I agree completely. I think the underlying problem is a weekly release schedule no matter whether the beer is perfectly ready or not.

It's exactly as you describe. In hoppy beers it tends to be more noticeable, because of the bitterness of the hops.

I doubt it, John Kimmich has said that Heady is best a couple weeks after canning. He cans that beer all the time. It's just the way these beers are.

How early do you have to be there for a Sunday milkshake release?
