You thinking anyone here gives a damn about this opinion, is sad.

Drinking a Technicolor Splendor from the 10/04 release and I think it is prime right now. So 3 weeks out might be the sweet spot. And I already loved this beer. The dank seems to stand out more, and I'm a big fan of dank IPAs. Definitely one of their best.

The pineal is amazing as usual! Still didn't try the seasonal ipa.

Dude has been trolling BA and RB forums for almost a decade. The "geeks" comment is hilarious coming from him if you've ever seen him in real life waiting in Tired Hands lines to score sweet trade bait.

Think the Nelson hop shortage has played a big roll in Punge not being canned again.

Alien Church is definitely my favorite TH can, the last can I loved as much as it was Distopian.
In a perfect world they'd can a batch of AC once a week and sell it from behind the bar but doubt that'll happen because it'd be just too convenient and courteous for their loyal customers. They clearly don't like pleasing their customers that much, the BBA OV on tap and the crappy red wine void in bottles should drive that fact home.

A little birdie also told me they sharted the bed with having the right number of Alien Church labels for the last release which is why the CAN-yield was so low. Makes sense since its been popping up all around Philly and will likely be on tap at the Ferm for a while.

I love this brewery so darn much but man do they piss me off a lot

They have increased production and are opening a retail location. There will be a time in the near future where their flagship beers will be easier to get.

Sources for this? Because their production at this point is still pretty miniscule.

Retail location is next to brew cafe and has a liquor license in the window. The use of the dispensary for extra fermentation will increase production. They have also recently added at least one more fermenter as well.

Nice try. I never signed up for trading here after the changes requiring you to register. Have not made a trade on this site in a LONG time. Never let the facts get in your way though. Made for a nice story I guess.

There are ways to trade other than on Beer Advocate.

Today I had a 3 month "vertical" of Pineal.

The cans were canned very nearly a month apart and when I noticed that I knew it was a chance to test how the IPA held up and my ability to tell how old they were.
The cans are from 8/24, 9/28, and 10/26.[IMG]

Here they are poured in the same orientation; oldest to freshest.

In person I was not able to tell the difference by their appearance. After the photo I randomized the glasses (post-its under the glasses kept track) and did a blind taste test. The result was that I correctly identified the 1 month old September can but guessed totally wrong on the super fresh and 2 month old cans and had them reversed when I guessed :grimacing:. That was slightly embarassing but I'll admit it to give my totally honest reactions.

The freshest can had a sweeter taste than both other cans, seemed to have a more lasting aftertaste, and it was my least favorite taste. The middle can was clearly a middle ground with some of the sweetness from the fresh can but more balanced and it was my favorite in the test. Oldest was the most quaffable and still very good, the flavor did not change significantly with 2 months of age.

I had assumed that the sweet flavor in the freshest Pineal was the effect of the beer aging based on what I tasted in other Tired Hands beers as they got older but it seems like that was wrong or maybe the batches had slight differences but the 3 cans were extremely similar overall so I hope my descriptions make some sense. This definitely makes me more comfortable with letting the TH beers age.

All of these beers were kept cold in my fridge since I bought them.

FWIW that would be my guess.

The good news is that all three batches were 'clean' with no brewing faults (e.g, diacetyl).

    Cheers!

Agreed. I wouldn't mind seeing Jean throw out a few more stouts.. toss a bunch of adjuncts in like vanilla and coconut and lets see what you got!!

Wasn't that much. I was there Saturday night and they were out of the AC. I had a bunch of beers I never tried before, so it was still all good. I was not a huge fan of the Seasonal IPA, too much like a gingerbread cookie. The Paperhouse and Witch Speak were tremendous though. I got a grolwer of the Paperhouse to take home I liked it so much.

It's nice they corrected Mago Tago quuckly. I thought Witch Speak was killer too. That's a highlight among all their IPA's.

I really didn't like paperhouse, tasted good, but got a burning aftertaste..... not sure if it was just a reaction I was getting or not. Everyone else seems to like it. I haven't had a problem with their other mango beers or mangoes in general.

the comment "it's just beer, mannnn" is used way too often when it doesn't need to be.

The Pineal batch they used extra PA wildflower honey in was by far my favorite, also enjoying this batch more than the previous.

AC might have lost it's tap spot to Pineal but it's available at more bars than I've personally ever seen it at and at least one spot (Hawthorne's) is doing growler fills, which i have NEVER seen done for that beer outside of the ferm/cafe (minus the occasional AC crowlers at Humeville Inn).

4 spots in Center City have it on tap right now? Can't remember the last TH beer (minus hop/saison-hands) thats been that widely available outside of the brewery.
