In the past I've had a few beers from various brewers that were this same type of experiment - a beer hoppped to American IPA levels but using English hop varieties. None have been something I'd want to drink a second glass of. The brewery escapes me now, but an all-Fuggles IPA was particularly bad.

Any predictions on what flavor Shake we get tomorrow? Been waiting for another Peach Double for a while as that's been the best one I've had to date

I loved the double peach too, but my favorite of all the fruited shakes was the double watermelon. They did it two years ago and never did it again and I don't know why. I'm thinking they may go back to pumpkin even though I thought that one was terrible. The only shake I thought that of.

Just some quick thoughts on some of the recent shakes I've been drinking.

Ramos Gin Fizz. Getting better with age, mouthfeel has rounded out nicely to a "shake style" and the lime/lemon flavors mix in well. Still a little tart, so it's different than the rest, but it's really good. Solid shake.

Double Bananas Foster. This one confused me. It could be sooo good, but I don't get much if any banana or even caramel or brown sugar like I would think I should. Disappointing shake.

Double Cherry Cheesecake. This one too is really rounding out into a very good shake. The cherry and the graham cracker is melding nicely together and the shake feel is terrific. Not sweet, just perfect.

Extra Vanilla. What can I say, time and time again this is truly one of the best shakes made. Excellent, my overall favorite probably.

Panna Cotta. Still a little young, but this one again will be a keeper for weeks to come. Loving this one.....again. Another one of my favorites.

Double Extra Vanilla. I found 2 cans from a March release, I let them go too long. Still very drinkable, but the sweetness is becoming too much.

I think that's it. I have a Pina Coloda in the fridge that my wife will probably drink, I was not a fan of that one, not a coconut guy. The Raspberry Green Tea I have a can or 2 of that I have to try again. I am pretty much stocked with shakes, trying to remedy that.

I'm glad you brought up these reviews with the understanding that there is age on them. I have found that the shakes hold up really well / get better with some time as long as you don't hit that snowglobe.

Agree on Extra Vanilla still being one of the better recent iterations. I was impressed by Ramos Gin as well... not so much by Raspberry Tea or Pavlova, these were misses in my opinion. Raspberry Tea felt a bit thinner than usual, and the flavors just weren't all that complementary. Some people loved Pavlova, but I don't think the spiciness worked. I wasn't surprised by it as some others were I'm sure; it's just very difficult to do spice well in a beer generally, much less a non-stout.

Also Double Watermelon is one of my top 2 or 3 Shakes ever... weird that we haven't seen that one for years (right?).

Weird indeed on the double watermelon, it was fantastic and I really thought they would do it again this summer with the watermelon season. Maybe it was a huge PIA to make??

I would think with watermelon, you'd need an ass-load (compared to other fruits) to get any flavor to come through the brewing process.

I see a reference on a homebrew forum that 21st Amendment uses ~500 pounds of watermelon per 7 BBL of beer for their Hell or High Watermelon.

Loved the watermelon shake, Hell or High Watermelon sat on top of our shore house fridge for an entire summer once.

Do we ever think Tired Hands is going to come back down to earth for some of this pricing? $22 isnt the worst but it's not even a Double IPA

Not justifying the current price but saying even if everything was cheaper this would still be comparably more expensive than say Alien Church.

Yeah I guess I'm beating a dead horse with the pricing. It is what it is and there's plenty of cheaper alternatives available out there. Oh well.

I was just in Boston so I guess I was spoiled buying Julius for just over $15 a four pack and Haze for just over $17 a four pack.

... and DDH Trillium beers for $22 a 4pack? Using Tree House as an unreasonable benchmark never gets old lol.

Not to mention the close to two hour drive with traffic from Boston to Tree House.

I know I know I know. Tree House is truly one of a kind. I just like complaining at this point lol. I'll still keep pouring my money into TH because I love their beer and the Philly bias
