Tired Hands is a roughly 1:45 drive from me, and it's about 50/50 that the growlers will still be carbed by the time I get home. Needless to say I enjoy their food, and drinking at the brewery, but I don't bother with TH growlers any longer.

Any word on if they're going to have one of those nifty growler machines at the new brewery? That'd get me to fill a growler again.

Will the new brewery have a taproom? I thought it was just going to be a production brewery?

    Definitely will be a taproom

They told me it will have a taproom and food. Different cuisine, reference tacos and upscale bar food. Plan is 10 beers on tap at all times there and same format at the current location. This is what I was told last Tuesday.

That seems odd to just add another "brewpub" location, that doesn't seem to solve the current problems of the overcrowding and wait for growler fills.

Hey, it's what I was told. Take it for what it's worth.

Maybe it's just when I've gone factoring in, I tend to avoid the big release days, but I've never had this issue at the current place. Not saying it doesn't happen but more space would alleviate it, no?

How would it not? It's a second (and much larger) space for people to go for food, beer and growler fills. It should absolutely alleviate the overcrowding issue at the current single location.

Because they have issues even with only allowing X number of people inside the building. That won't change.

It would seem to make more sense to have a dedicated location for purchasing beer-to-go (growlers or bottles) and direct all of that traffic to that location.

My understanding is that the vast majority of bottle releases will be handled at the new location.

100% all of this (except it's a 3 hour drive for me). Had a few saison growlers almost flat in the 3 hours it took me to get home.

I live closer than some of you but I stopped getting growlers because the prices sucked. I could buy a 1/2 a case of legit high end beer for the price of one of their 32oz growlers of IPA. They make decent ale but unless you trade and/or bottle share rare whales it's not worth it.

    Agreed.

Most of their 32oz growler fills are $10.50, which is OK if you get something good (MagoTago). The last two times I've been there they weren't filling their DIPAs, but people in here are saying they're $20 for 32oz - which is downright absurd. Give me a fresh 4-pack of Dirtwolf for $8.99 any day over that price.

I don't think the growler business alone justifies doing that, or else they would. They're current model works and it makes perfect business sense to not mess with it and open another bigger location.

I'm hearing lots of reasons not to fill growlers. I'm headed out that way soon... y'all still recommend I stop in for a pint or two?

Get a flight, and fill growlers of the ones you think are worth it. Which there will be one. Everything they brew is fantastic, and their pickles are to die for!

Speaking of growler fills, have any of you guys ever gotten fills at Forest and Main? I'm heading there on Friday night and I'm wondering how their prices are, compared to TH.
