Many Amtrak trains also stop at Ardmore, and are only a bit more expensive than Septa.

i've had mystery mood and undertow and while they were both good beers i don't really get the hype that is starting to develop around this brewery while there are other breweries making better beer that are seemingly flying under the radar. i guess you do a HF collab and that'll put you on the map?

Funny you say that about the HF connect, I actually didn't know.

I gotta say I think both beers I tried were some of the finest I have tried in style, and I dare to say I've had a couple in both those styles.

As far as Mysterious Mood my only comment is Really?? Just what kind of perfection is it then you have found or are desiring?

That beer hits every fine saison note, perhaps if you like em real peppery it might not, but especially where saison lives, in the refreshment, geepers, to me a beer so complex and balanced that is light in the mouth and refreshing, yet has some cling with none of the spicy resins that ruin some saisons, just a clean bitter. On the growler it says he believes in a Belgium Meets America (capitals mine), and dang but if that isn't exactly what this is, magnificently IMHO.

Drink more of their beers. You've had all of two, according to this post. It's really not at all a fair statement to say that doing the HF collaboration is what put them on the map. It's not even close to the case.

As far as breweries flying under the radar.... That may be possible in a lot of places, but Philadelphia isn't one of them. Beer's pretty big down here, to put things mildly. Everything's on the radar.

I wish them best of luck to get larger and succeed well enough so we all can try them more easily!!!

I'm hoping to get a growler or two from them soon. I read through their tap list on the website the other day and immediately wanted one of everything.

We've been following Jean down here for quite a while so, no, the HF collab didn't exactly put them on the map. They brew good beer and are close to Philadelphia, which no doubt helps.

That said, it's unfair for anyone to compare them to HF (whether as a compliment or an insult). Yes, the brewers know each other and brew hop forward and farmhouse styles, but their beers are pretty different in my opinion.

just my opinion. i didn't think it was a bad beer by any stretch of the imagination...i thought it was rather good, but i am just surprised at all the hub bub about this brewery.

i only mentioned HF since they did a collab and the chatter surrounding the brewery reminds me a lot of HF when they first started getting noticed. the main difference to me was that when i tried my first HF beers i was floored...but like i said, not bad beers...but there are others that are brewing better stuff in my opinion that aren't getting any chatter. one example being greenport harbor which i think is knocking it out of the park right now.

perhaps i will, but at $25 a growler fill plus shipping they don't seem worth it to me. again, not bad beers...in fact rather good beers, but there are a lot of good beers out there.

agreed. i'm sure had i drank a $10 bomber of mystery mood/undertow, i'd feel a bit more high on them. but right now it costs about $35 a taste. not trying to knock them, but folks are raving about this brewery like they are brewing the best beer on the planet and frankly, i didn't find that to be the case...however, if they were my local brewery and i could stop by and get a pint or a growler fill after work, i'd be shouting from the rooftops about them. sadly getting to taste their beer requires a trade/proxy of about $35.

^ they had their first bottle run the other day. It was the collab with Stillwater, I believe. No idea of the numbers or cost, but it will definitely be cheaper soon get your hands on some TH beers.

I hear you. My comment wasn't just about your statement either. I've heard both breweries mentioned a lot in the same sentence. I think some in this area are thinking we have our own little HF in our backyard while others say things like "well they are no hill farmstead."

I am baffled at this. Assuming that the shipping you spend in sending beer is roughly the same that someone spends in shipping a growler to you, they offset. You also get the glass for five bucks which is a fair price that you can use for your personal use for as long as you own the glass. You then make a statement about how you think it would be so much better if you were paying ten bucks for a bomber. Well you are paying twenty bucks at most and for many beers they offer less than that for 64 ounces which comes out to less than ten bucks for the equiv in bombers.

So what is your gripe? Offsetting shipping, a reasonable price for glass growler, or paying less for the equiv price you think would be a good deal for bombers?

    Baffling.

didn't mean to baffle you. if i have a gripe it is that i have to get it in growler form at $20 a pop plus a $5 growler (how many tired hands growlers do i need?). get it shipped is $10...$35 from the tap line to my mouth. what i was saying is that if i could swing by the brewery and buy a $5 pint, i'd probably love it, but being that in order to get a taste i have to buy a growler, get it filled, and have it shipped, so getting a taste becomes pricey compared to what i can get locally that i think is pretty awesome. the chatter around this brewery is pretty hefty right now, i just think that in order to get a taste if you aren't local it isn't really worth it is all i am saying. i think that the praise is a bit extreme. don't get me wrong, they show a TON of promise and their beers are very solid out of the gate. my thoughts are that it would be best to wait for bottles as opposed to going for the growlers, but i will probably take one more stab at a growler from this brewery before hanging up my tired hands growler trading hat. it is just a bit much to have to get a 64oz sample when you are interested to find out what the hub bub is about. i only make the HF comparison because the last time i saw this kind of buzz about a growler only brewery was HF. when i got my first growler i immediately wanted more. and much like HF, most of the trade requests seem to be for bigger beers as opposed to locals or proxy setups...although there are definitely more than a few non-public traders who are willing to hook things up for cost (thanks to those folks!!!).

if anyone got ahold of the new bottle that was a stillwater collab and wants to trade, i'd love to give their bottle a try, especially if it is a stillwater collab.

Are bottles for sale now? If so how much? If you could get a growler of one other beer currently on tap besides Hop Hands what would it be? I'm going to see if my friend will stop by and grab me a few things before he comes into town.

no bottles for sale yet. the first run was just bottled, though, so i'm assuming it's any day now (the ArtiSnale snail stout they brewed with brian from stillwater). they will first go on sale to the tired hands believers club people. and then i'm assuming whatever is left is open for sale at the brewpub. no idea how much the bottles will be. i'm sure someone else can chime in, though, if they know more/or can correct me.
as far as growlers, though, i'd recommend Hop Hands first and foremost, since it's one of their flagship beers, and pretty awesome to boot. followed by Farm Hands, their other flagship beer. or if you don't want to go flagship (because it's not .rar enough), currently on tap favorite is the Single Hop Simcoe saison thingie, followed by Mysterious Mood.

I started a thread about Tired Hands in July.

A ‘summary’ of my original post:

They serve their beers in three sizes: 4 oz., 8 oz. and 16 oz. I took advantage of the 4 oz. size to sample a lot of beers. I had 7 of the 8 beers on tap and they were all very good to excellent. I have had samples (a number of small glasses on a wooden board) at many other brewpubs. I can’t think of any other brewpub where I felt so pleased with the whole range of beers being served.”

There's plenty of on-street parking within a block, and there's a big municipal lot across the street from the brewery.

This beer is not getting a lot of hype just because of a few collaborations with HF. They are getting hype because they are making damn fine beer and are making a lot of interesting beers that most breweries are not doing. Especially in PA. Plus it's a great place to hang out, the food is good, and you can drink every beer on their tap list for around $25 (thinking 4oz. pours). I love the place. I've been there several times already. Have tried at least 15 beers from them and they are all very good. Love that they are able to make session beers that are just as tasty as other beers that are high in alcohol.

And the first beer I had from them, Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt (India Black Coffee Saison) did floor me just like the first beer I ever had from HF, Everett.
