Any other restaurant owners or retailers tired of FFF?? The limited distribution, even in Indiana, is frustrating. Makes us want to not bother with their beer because we can depend on getting it. Why not use the space for something more reliable that is as good or better??

It would seem to me that if you and other restaurants and bottle shops discontinue handling FFF then the distribution will be compressed into fewer places that will continue to handle their beers, thus they will have more product and the customers will beat a path to their door and leave you in the cold. I'd say grin and bear it.

A thread in this forum that I read earlier today says the brewery is trying to expand production thru automation, so maybe there is hope.

It just gets tiresome to be told every week that, there is no ZD or Gumball Head. Oh, but there is Pride & Joy, and Robert the Bruce. Priorities??

I get and sympathize with your frustration. I'm a huge FFF fan, no doubt, but I agree it's disappointing to see the logo on the shelf only to then realize it's Pride and Joy or worse: Jinx Proof. Luckily, I love going out to the brewpub (which is only a 45-minute drive for me) and can pick up whatever I need there, and there's plenty else to choose from at the liquor store when I'm not up for that drive. (It's not like they're leaving shelves empty for FFF.)

You have to be kidding me. Do you know how small three Floyd's is? They don't want to make the mistake Founders' is making, they realize demand for their product vastly exceeds their ability to produce it. And they don't want to grow too big too fast if they can't even keep up with their current demand of 4 states. They are still churning out kickass beers like Rye da tiger, or zombie dust. I know dark lord gets a lot of flack but people really do enjoy dark lord day. The bottle sharing and guest taps are amazing and are bar none to any other festival hosted by other breweries (look at the crap founders got for kbs day for not having any "specialty beers" or guest taps). Three Floyd's knows how to make great beer and great events. They only produce about 20,000 barrels of beer and are capped under Indiana law at 30,00. To put that in perspective
Founders produces 74,000 barrels (in 2012)
Bell's produced 115,000 barrels (in 2010 before a major expansion)
Goose Island produced 150,000 barrels (in2011)

Three Floyd's is around 15%-20% at most compared to other regional beers.

Most craft beer drinkers don't exactly get excited over a helles lagers.

I'm sick of people in Indiana acting entitled (everywhere, but especially Indiana) when it comes to Three Floyds. "They barely distribute in their own state" etc. etc. etc. It is a Chicago brewery, period. The people who run it live in Chicago, the people who support it live in Chicago. Cry about it.

what "mistake" did Founders make? Id really like to know that...Because there is no problem getting their beer...Except if your talking KBS, which is ridiculous to bring up...But I think your talking about catering to the "tier 3" people, which again is ridiculous..

Had my first Rye da Tiger last night and it's as good as any of their other beers and possibly my favorite and that's saying a lot.

I haven't seen Gumballhead in B'ton in quite awhile but I can get Alpha King 6ers and pretty much all of the bombers so I'm good.

Man, you're so right. Founders is making a huge mistake by giving me a steady supply of excellent beers that I can now purchase at my local Kroger. The two cases of Founders Imperial Stout that I've purchased since January has been a terrible development with Founders "getting too big".

At least I can rely on Three Floyds to make it possible to buy a single bottle of ZD twice a year and a bomber every other month.

I appreciate the beers that Three Floyds produces, and I'm grateful that they've added Ohio to their distribution, even if it's dramatically limited, but I don't see how that then equals Founders "making a mistake".

    100% agree.

Then why don't they move the brewpub to Chicago? I feel if a brewery is in Indiana, that I would refer to them as a brewery in Indiana. Who cares where some of the owners or some of the people that buy their beer live?
