NICE! I have volleyball right after work so I might not have time to post pictures, but I'll have time to bring them inside. Damn, if it wasn't league playoffs tonight I would totally skip to check out DAT BOX!

Ok, now that my boxes are off in the world (target 2's tracking hasn't changed. It may be floating off into outer space). Trying to figure out my targets. One I am pretty sure on, but the other I have no clue. But I may be getting both tomorrow? I'm so confused. Enjoying a Spruce Pilsner while I try to figure this shit out.

 

Sounds like the mitten will be busting a seam tomorrow (i am jealous)

Oh hey BIFr's! First the news you're most interested in. My volleyball team won a play-in game (crazy rain outs all season, so not all teams played the same number of games), so we got the final spot as the 8th seed and got to immediately play the 1 seed. They crushed us earlier in the season, but this time around we played really well and we lost in straight games, but with respectable scores of 21-25 and 17-25. They were really gracious winners and all around cool people, so it was a great way to end the season despite the heat. So yeah, that's my update.




Wait, I got some beer too. OH SNAP! First off, the bigguns! Pictures are blurry because I was shaking from excitement.

B. Nektar Meadery - Episode 13 B. Nektar Strikes Back (Honey wine aged in bourbon barrels? Yes please!)
New Holland - Dragons Milk (LOOOOVE! Never had large format, super stoked)
Dark Horse - King of the Forest (Belgian Sour Porter, love the bottle art!)
Jolly Pumpkin - Baudelaire IO (Saison, loving these Jolly Pumpkins that don't make it to CNY)
Kuhnhenn - Portugese Duoro (tannic dry red wine, exactly my favorite kind of wine, very excited to try!)
Dark Horse - Sour Three Guys off the Scale (sour old ale, nice!)

That was a bad ass blend of stuff across the board. Let's see what the smaller guys have to offer.

Short's - Dan's Pink Skirt (IPA, hilarious label, love it)
Short's - Spruce Pilsner (sounds really interesting!)
Short's - Bourbon Barrel Sustenance (your box is depleting my adjective supply)
Short's - Anniversary Ale (wheat wine with blood oranges sounds amazeballs)
Short's - Freedom of '78 (pure guava IPA? weeeird! can't wait to try it)
Oddside - Simcoe Sensation (Simcoe and session sounds perfect)
Kuhnhenn - Dark Heathen (between you and Marti403 you're going to make a serious Kuhnhenn fan out of me)
Witch's Hat - Well Water (double dry hopped bourbon barrel aged barleywine. drool)
Greenbush - Brother Benjamin (IIPA, beautiful bottle art)

Wow. PattyMelt, you totally brought it. This was an awesome, eclectic box, and I'm super stoked to dive into it. You had two breweries I had never heard of before, and the only beer that I've ever heard of before was the Dragon's Milk. Everything else is totally new to me. You did a ridiculous job of hitting a bunch of style likes, and I'm just crazy impressed by the box. PLUS you packed like a boss and gave me a 3 shipper and a 12 shipper to reuse. After shipping out my own boxes for this BIF, my packing supplies were getting a little low So THANK YOU! You absolutely knocked it out of the park.

Glad they made it safe and sound! Since I forgot my note, the two Dark Horse one's I actually have not tried cuz I'm not into sours. Some folks rave about them, some say they are kind of blah, but I figured no harm in sending brewery-only releases. Hopefully they don't suck. The Witch's Hat Well Water is from a limited release of 80 bottles (I forget the exact bottle number, it is on the side of the bottle, though). Had it on tap and it is delicious, but it also should age pretty well per the brewer. Short's is one of my fav MI breweries and they don't distrubute outside the state, so I love sharing them. And I'm glad I picked a good wine! Kuhnhenn's seriously has like, probably at least 30 wines on their menu, and I've only tried a schmeckling of them, so I took a shot and grabbed one that I haven't had, but sounds really tasty. And the Episode 13.... just drink slowly. Hahaha. It is a bit powerful, but soooooo good. BM me when you try stuff and let me know what you think!!!

 

Target 2's box is out for delivery. Final hint: At least if I am arrested for accidentally illegally shipping beer, my target may be able to help me fight the charges.

 

a box going to a state with a major sports team that came in second place in 2012 is getting a box (or two) today, but the note is still on my table....but my username is on the packing label. GO TEAMWORK!

 

Nothing like getting of a 16 hour on-call rotation at the hospital and coming home to a box!!!!
