Does anyone know if the guidelines are a little over the BJCP guidelines will they degrade the beer? I plan on entering a beer and I am a couple points over the OG mark. The beer turned out real good and taste fantastic. Everything else is pretty close to specs. I just don’t want to pack the bottles all up and find out later I was disqualified due to not meeting specs or something. Has anyone ever done this and can you give me some pointers. Thanks Much!

A small amount will not be detected. If you are 10 points over for an Ordinary Bitter, then there is a chance you could get dinged.

There's no way for a judge to know that your beer was a couple points over the OG spec. They can only judge based on sensory input against the (mostly) subjective parts of the criteria.
