To rinse or not to rinse?

My mother didn't raise an animal, of course I rinse.

 

Different pour requires at least, at the bare minimum a vigorous rinsing.

 

I rinse my glass after each beer, until I am to lazy/drunk to rinse my glass

 

You are an honest man. I know that IPA 2 on top of IPA 1 dregs will not be a beer sin; tastes the same. I'll rinse as beer choices change color. It surely seems that people fuss quite a bit about their beer drinking habits, but I really don't worry about others' habits as long as they remain happy and don't get all preachy. I have possibly 100 various glasses and many rare and truly beautiful ones. If my son is bringing over something special, we will have found "proper" glassware for the occasion. Sometimes it is eye opening.
The guy that takes his Riedl case- with a glass for varied beer types- to a nice bar is fun to watch.
I do love my glass collection, my wife not so much.

 

At someone's house I'll just rinse and pour another glass. At home I'll rinse and dry. I don't have multiple glasses for different beers. I want to get a set to start with so I have a glass for stouts, porters, IPA, etc.

 

Good idea, works with wine as well.

 

I rinse between beers and give it a shake. I usually take this opportunity to enjoy a swig of water.

 

It depends how lazy and/or drunk I happen to be feeling at the moment. I usually don't worry about it too much unless it's something completely different like going from a DIPA to a stout which I almost never do. My mind immediately went to that scene in Jaws where Roy Sheider pours red wine in half a glass of scotch when I was reading this.

 

Just a rinse and a hard shake works for me even if I'm going from, say, a kolsch to a stout. I do get a new glass if I'm going to a real favorite or a new-to-me beer.

 

A Rinse between every beer, regardless of style switch or not.

It's not so much a concern with flavors mixing, its more about a bad aroma of the old beer/lacing that's left on the top of the glass smelling stale to me as it dried while I was drinking it.

 

Exact same beer=same glass with no rinse. Anything else gets a clean glass and I may even get a whole new glass entirely. I have lots and like to use them. Something about the fancy Brewery logos on the side.

Depends on what I'm drinking. Absolutely I want it to be clean for something I haven't tried/a special bottle.
Although I did just pour my second glass of zombie dust of the night and decided to give it a dash of omnipollo aniara just to see what it would taste like. It's all situational

 

Sometimes I rinse the glass between beers. Sometimes I might even switch glasses depending on the style. Sometimes I get real wild and keep rolling with the same glass, no rinse. I like to live on the edge.

 

Usually a quick rinse and dry before pouring a new beer. Sometimes no rinse if I am pouring a lesser quality beer into glass after a superior beer that may help it a touch.

 

Always a clean glass... Why not, you get a clean glass at a bar... Assuming we are drinking beer that's worthy of a glass and not some swill better consumed from a bottle or can...Whatever... I'm still at work trying to get my head around the fact that its not Friday... Its feels like Friday. I thought it was Friday when the alarm went off. Reality set in all too quickly... its only Thursday. Man, I could really use a beer. Geez, got 96 minutes left. OMG its gonna be the longest 96 minutes. As bad as I feel right now I expect a miraculous recovery in only 95 minutes.... My favorite time of the day "Beer O'clock"... Have Fun!!!

 

I'll politely disagree and here is why. Public Health Departments in the US mandate that all bar & restaurant dishes, glassware, and silverware be sanitized. Oftentimes there is residual sanitizer on 'new' beer glasses (ever smell an empty glass at a bar?).

So, in reality, beer #1 removes the sanitizer and the resulting glass is (most times) more beer-ready than when it was 'new'.

As a result, I insist on keeping the same glass going unless a change in beer styles results in a different shaped glass.
