Bells Two Hearted just began distribution in Maine, and I’m pretty happy about that. I know you folks are used to drinking it, but I wanted to relay my thoughts. With all of the hype surrounding NE beers and breweries, I have to say that Two Hearted will give a lot of NE beers a run for their money. I’m not comparing it to NEIPAs, but it is a far superior, well rounded beer than a LOT of beers produced here with $4/can price tags. As long as I can continue to find it, Bells will now get my beer money over a lot of Maine/NE breweries. Thanks Bell’s and Michigan for sending a solid beer out this way.

Two hearted is a great beer and even though I am deep into the haze craze, I have to change it up at least once every couple of weeks with 4 pack of two hearted, Unicorn vs. Ninja, or a sixer of a 3 Floyd’s IPA.

Trout, that's one of the best avatars on here. Nice job. He hates these cans!

Two Hearted is my most checked in beer with good reason. I like to try as many different beers as I can but when I go back to my favorites, Two Hearted is at the top of the list.

One thing that I really like is that so much Two Hearted is sold, it is not difficult to find it fresh. I couldn't tell you the last time I purchased Two Hearted that had a can date of more than three weeks.

@archiebunkerjr ,. “Any blue Chevy towing a small church, I guess that would be the one”. Also, I can appreciate the screen name and the Jeff Spicoli avatar.
As far as Two Hearted, Having it for the first time, I can say that it is a far better beer than a lot of the New England only distributed beer that people in other parts of the country seem to really want. I mentioned in the New England forums that the introduction of Bells should really be a wake up call to breweries making beer that isn’t as good and charging twice the price.

Went to a friend's kid's birthday party at a swim club....was quite happy when Two Hearted was one of the tap choices. I'd be a happy man if it was the default 'good beer' at your average watering hole.

Living in Kalamazoo it's my back up beer at all times. If there's no new tick or no craft selection then Two Hearted is on here in Kzoo basically everywhere and I'm never disappointed

I wish I could regularly find 2-3 week old Two Hearted in GR, if I find it less than 30 days old I buy it.

Around mid-Michigan, it is the default 'good beer' at your average watering hole. I live in a small town with three sit down restaurants that serve beer. All three have had Two Hearted on tap all year round for about four years.

This post also made me think about my niece's recent wedding. They had Two Hearted, All Day IPA, Rubaeus and Farm Hand on tap. I've noticed a trend the last three to five years that people will serve well known craft beers at their reception instead of sticking with tired BMC. These, my friends, are wonderful days.

And it's not even Christmas. Enjoy! :beers:

Two Hearted is named Beer of the Year for the second year in a row by Zymurgy magazine and the American Homebrewer Association.

Maybe it's the pessimist in me, but due to the recent resurgence of NE IPA love, I thought this was going to be a Two Hearted hate thread. Very glad it's not because you're absolutely right!

One of the many things I love about Two Hearted is that it is bullet proof. Don’t worry about dates too much. Find a store that doesn’t overstock and/or keeps it cold and you won’t ever have to check the dates. I’ve kept cans of Two Hearted in my fridge for months and 4 months in they still taste delicious

Being a Michigan native Bell’s Two Hearted has been the most solid, consistent quality beer over the last 20 or so years.

There is something to say about the beer that stays tried and true and has stood the test of time. This is no trendy craft beer with an overpriced tag - it is that classic Midwest IPA that defines our region. And to all of you I raise my glass and say cheers to a beer of the ages...(at least an IPA before IPA’s were trendy...)

It's a backward world in which Two Hearted, arguably the gold standard of American IPAs, the longtime flagship beer of the flagship style of craft beer, is said to give anything else a run for its money, as if Two Hearted is just another plucky contender instead of the IPA to which all the others should be compared. It's a beer that has earned its stripes many times over, one of the most awarded and beloved beers in history. Even to this day quite rare is the IPA that Two Hearted doesn't make seem insubstantial in comparison, especially those insipid, lifeless, dumbed-down NEIPAs.

Added: Next thing you know, people will start saying, "Believe it or not, some of this Cantillon stuff is just as good as these great fruited kettle sours everybody's drinking!"

Keep in mind, I’ve never had Bells until this week, never had the opportunity until now to appreciate it. Yes, it is better than most of the beers available in the Northeast.

Fair enough. I'm glad you enjoy it. Now that ultra-accessible NEIPAs have them hooked, the next step is to get all of these newer IPA drinkers off of their training-wheels hoppy beers (i.e., NEIPAs) and onto the authentic product / good stuff. It sounds like, thanks to Two Hearted, you're well on your way.

I was there long before NEIPAs. Living in NEIPA country doesn’t mean I drink them. Maybe 10% of my beer consumption. I prefer West Coast IPAs , and I can say Bells has a taste of its own,and I like it. Far superior beer that folks in the Northeast have been missing out on for far too long. I really hope it sees more than limited distribution here.

    Ignore his condescension.

We're glad you get to enjoy one of the midwest's best brews. Bell's makes plenty of other delicious brews you'll have access to as well...Expedition Stout & Cherry Stout are both excellent, plus the Porter, etc...

You're one of the good ones, and it sounds like we're on the same page. Yes, for whatever reason, consumers in the Northeast, for the most part, never took to dry, bitter beers, hence the shift from malt-forward, relatively low IBU, old-fashioned East Coast IPAs directly to sweet, juicy, low-bitterness NEIPAs. The West Coast and Midwest varieties, the latter of which counts Two Hearted as its quintessential example, with their powerful, dry hops and bitterness, never caught on anywhere close to the degree that they did in developed markets in the rest of the country.
