As most of you know, if not all, next week is Toledo Craft Beer Week, with specials and events taking place in bars and brewpubs all over the city. It got me to thinking that, since we haven't been able to keep up with our tastings like we used to, people might be interested in doing a special tasting this coming week as part of the festivities. This is sort of impromptu, and I'm just looking for interest and thoughts. Friday night, maybe? I still need a full list of when all the events I want to attend are happening for certain to know when would be best, but Friday nights have traditionally always worked well. Anyone interested let me know.
I'll be gone still but I was thinking, any interest in a midday tasting during the old west end festival?
I would be interested. We're hoping to be there as a vendor, but we could easily leave while our partners manned the table.
Thanks for the post. I'm interested in a Toledo tasting next weekend. Mid-afternoon or later on Saturday would be fine for me. Also curious if anyone is going to the cask ale event at Maumee Bay on Sunday. I'd like to go, but my wife can't make it. Could be promising. Cheers, Mike
If there are at least a few people who can do it, which it seems like there may be, we can definitely do this mid-late afternoon Saturday at my house. Mike, I got tickets to Sunday's finale for myself and my wife as soon as they came online. I've been hearing some really good things.
Probably couldn't make it to this tasting but I would be interested next time. Going to see Joan Jett (brother inlaw is in one of the bands opening for her). Anyone make it to Swig today? I didn't find out till today that it was a ticketed event for the KBS/CBS so I didn't go. How was it for anyone that went? @Brenden what are you hearing about the firkin tasting at MBBCo? I would like to go but I don't want to cash in a favor with the wife (and $25) if the beers aren't worth it.
I met a friend at Swig Tuesday around 5:30, and surprisingly it wasn't as crowded as I had anticipated. He had gotten a few beers for us over the weekend, hence my meeting. I didn't stick around, as I had no ticket, but it looked like I could have hung out, maybe just not gotten any of the Founders stuff. Brendan, what's the details for Saturday? I think we can stop by.
Beer list is up on the website. For $20 ($40 for two tix), I think its going to be a great deal. Light food from Swig, Stellas, Barrs and Attic, entertainment from local DJs, 20 casks from all over the states and all proceeds go to the Collingwood Art Center.
I think the Firkin Fest is going to be worth it by far. We're also looking at this tasting, if it works out, for next Saturday afternoon as opposed to today (sorry for the late update).
