Going to be in Toledo/Maumee this weekend. Looking for Total Eclipse and barrel aged Total Eclipse. Any idea where I can find them? I checked the Maumee Brewing website but I could not find any info on what they have available at the brewery for sale (if anything). Might call them tomorrow. Also I read some rumors that the BA version was infected? I tried it a few months ago and didnt taste any infection.
Andersons on Illinois Ave in Maumee is usually where I go to get stuff while I'm out there. They've got a nice selection of Mikkeller stuff in addition to a lot of the regulars we see across the state. It's been a while since I've been out there though so I don't know that they would still have any of the BA Total Eclipse left. I can confirm the rumors of infected BA total eclipse as 2 out of 3 of mine soured as they warmed up.
Maumee Bay has BA Total Eclipse for sale at the brewpub; I was there on Wednesday. I also think they have regular Total Eclipse, but I'd call ahead to make sure. The BA version might actually be easier to find right now than the regular, as there's a lot of the former sitting on shelves in Toledo. The higher price point and off flavors many people experienced have not made it a hot seller.
Maumee Bay is doing a tap takeover today at a bar called the Orchard Inn, on Sylvania Ave, and are pairing their beers with donuts from a local bakery. MBBC is supposed to have a peanut butter porter, Habanero Amarillo Brillo, and a vanilla/raspberry Total Eclipse. Might want to check it out, starts at 3pm. btw, I've opened close to 1/2 dozen bottles of the barrel aged Total Eclipse and haven't had a bad one yet.
Anderson's in Maumee definitely has the Barrell Aged Total Eclipse. Holloway on Airport Highway probably does as well.
I've had a few Barrel Aged Total Eclipses in the last couple weeks-first one was okay, but not great by any means. The last just tasted like milk and tart cherries? Be wary if you spend the money on them, I've never had a bad one on draft, just these bottles were quite disappointing. Maumee andersons had regular total eclipse last weekend for certain though
I bought regular and barrel aged in early April. The first BA one tasted fine but the second was let's say Bourbon County infected.
Went the brewery this weekend and really enjoyed it. They had Total Eclipse on tap and both the BA and bottles to go. They Anderson's has always had both when I've gone as well.
Yeah, pass on BA. I have one bottle left and won't make the mistake of buying 6 again. I'll probably buy 3 this time and save one and see if it does better then last years.
