Tried a couple last night and was very pleasantly surprised. On two counts-that a beer of only 2.8% ABV could have so much flavour and even character - and that here is a Greene King beer which doesn't have the all pervading GK backtaste.

I really liked it, it probably is the best of the 2.8% pack, the Mighty Atom was a bit of a let down but Tolly was quite tasty, quite tasty indeed.

Went and got some after seeing this, I truly hope it's better than Mighty Atom, which was not good at all.

Hmmm - that's good news. Although I'm not short of beer, so I'll probably wait until it's on offer before grabbing one. I can't say I love the fact that it's priced like everything else despite only being 2.8%....

That is pants! Come on, with the tax break £1 a bottle makes us all winners.

It should make it moderately cheaper.Mine was the cask version in a pub renowned for being expensive (though not London prices) and was perhaps 50 pence less than other guests.Didn't know it was available in bottle as I rarely drink bottled beers. To me beers in a bottle are a bit like seeing animals in a zoo-it's sometimes the only way but they aren't at their best and shouldn't be there

Mine was I think £1.40-ish from tesco extra. So with the 4 for £5.50 offer it wasn't included in, it was cheaper to get 3 bottles of Rhymney (Bitter, Export, Hobby Horse) and 1 of Brains (Dark, fancied a mild!). Ended up getting both though.

The 2.8 % beers were marked at £1.30 per bottle in Tesco, I went for the Fuller's first and was a bit disappointed but gave the Marston's Pale Ale a go and it was okay.

I was going to leave it at that, then they had the Tolly on offer at a pound I even gave the four can pack of Cain's Calcutta pale Ale a go at £2.65 for the pack, I have however left the Marson's Shandy on the shelf since they have all gone back up to £1.39 oh and I don't like shandy as well

Was in Tesco earlier and looked for the Tolly, but couldn't see it anywhere on the shelf (although I've seen it there before). They currently have most of their ales on offer at 4 for £5.50 - rather cheeky given that the offer that's just ended was 4 for £6!

It's okay, but I bet its not that much different to Tesco Value bitter apart from being twice the price lol

Had Brains' 2.8% offering today. Sunbeam, which is actually a pretty good pale ale, very peppery in fact. At £1.79 for a pint it was nice on the wallet as well!

Apart from Tolly English, has anyone had a surprisingly tasty 2.8% ABV bottle which you would enthusiastically try again?
    Sadly, I have my doubts.

I'll be having sunbeam if I see it again!
