    IOW, it is a better business case to stick the consumer with old beer.

    I'm not the one making the choice, but yes, that's what it boils down to every time you come across undated product. I don't buy undated product, except on rare occasions when I've got a reason to believe it isn't outdated (i.e.new releases, limited supply and it just came in). I buy a lot of beer. I'm not in the target audience for breweries that don't date apparently.
