I think that contributed to their downfall. I think I've tried every IPA they've canned, and liked exactly zero. They just don't make good IPAs. Seems like they put too much energy into canning and promoting those.

But their sours can be *magical*. Sad that so few seem to be aware of that, but I definitely think the location is part of the reason. I hate driving there, and I'm only 10 miles away.

I'm sure there a lot of reasons to why they are closing but it's a bummer for the San Diego beer scene.

Also sad to see them go. I admit I didn't go there as often due to the location but I also haven't seen them around in distribution the same way as I see Burgeon. Hope someone manages to find a good use for all the sours they have been aging.

Toolbox is one of the breweries that got me really excited for sours. As someone mentioned earlier I feel their downfall was trying to generate sales from their hazy IPAs, they were too late to the game and none really stood out. Haven't even been there in a number of months because the sours seemed to taper off. Oh well, I got a good number of bottles still lying around and plan on making one last visit this weekend. No brewery quite fills that void they leave behind in my opinion.

San Diego county is so over saturated and unfortunately this is becoming a trend. Sucks

Sure there are a lot of breweries but the really good breweries I don't see closing anytime soon. Smaller spots it depends on location and what is around because they are usually not in distribution. Lots of average breweries that I don't visit often I wouldn't be surprised if some of them closed. Not going to start naming them because it depends on the person.

Did anyone go to the last and final weekend? Out of curiosity, what would they do with any left over beers, be it kegs or bottles? I'm guessing somehow take it home or give to friends?

I'm curious if they are going to sell the place as a turnkey brewery or if they'll just sell everything off.
