Was able to score 4 bottles of the Carlton. I was very pleased with this one on tap so I'm hoping a few months in the bottle will pay off.

Whether it has diacetyl or not, woodwerX taste awful. I purchased two bottles, and highly doubt I'll be opening up either one. Hopefully in the future I hear the taste has changed, but my hopes are not high.

Like Toolbox a lot, but at the moment, they struck out with this one.

Several people here have said to wait, and it will be fine. Throw those two bottles off to the side and completely forget about them. There is so much other beer to be had right now. All will be OK.

Why the hell did you buy two bottles if you thought they taste awful and have few intentions of ever opening them?

They were sold via BPT before anyone had tried the beer.

I'm pretty sure it was available to try on draft before the BPT sale

I'm pretty sure you don't know jack.

Either way, what's that have to do with anything? You're saying it's my fault I purchased bottles before trying it on draft?

All I know is that people on another beer site had tried the beer before the sale and identified those faults. I don't remember if people here had tried, but those faults were known ahead of the release. But it was definitely on at least once (the GFL release day) before the sale.

The people that had tried it had exclusive access to the beer; I don't think it was on in the tasting room.

It was on draft to public before bottles went on sale. Friends might have gotten some pours prior.

But pretty much every sour/funky/wild ale I've had has better in bottles than draft. You can get better carbonation levels in the bottle that would be impossible to pour on draft.

Well, good for them. I didn't get a chance to try it and if I did, I definitely wouldn't have purchased any. I ain't shittin on Toolbox, I just gave my opinion on this particular beer I dropped 25 dollars or whatever on.

Carolton was great on draft. That was about two weekends ago and it was served to the public and they let us know it was being bottled but didn't have a release date at that time. Glad my wife & i was able to sng some up in that few secs

i understand where you are coming from, but this is a SMALL brewery who is less than a year old. this is really his first time brewing on his own at a professional level... with wild yeast... you cant possibly expect everything to be perfect all the time. yes there is a LOT of competition and i have personally written off some SD breweries for various reasons (not always beer related) because there are so many but i think you are being too harsh

Hopefully we can see some reviews before bottle sales of Haole Honey.

I wouldn't be surprised if it goes on tap this weekend for the Carlton pickup. They usually seem to have the next bottle release on tap while picking up the most recent. At least that is what I have noticed as a trend the past few times I have picked up.

Usually around the time of bottling part of the beer is kegged up for draft. So yeah, it could realistically be on draft this weekend if they feel it's ready to be served.

I'm excited to crack a peachin, it wasn't amazing on tap. I'm expecting it to be better in the bottle.

But holding to this, it's time to write off Alpine (err GF) too, they ruined Nelson. I'd even argue you can write off the Bruery for that coke beer they released recently. Hell, some of us might even write off Stone for the Chai IRS. Different palates, blah blah. In the end, we're setting the bar pretty damn high and these small breweries tend to meet the mark pretty often.

Agreed. I guess I AM a Toolbox fan boy lol I'm not willing to write them off for woodwerx, considering how these bottles should taste in another month or so. That Carlton was very tasty on tap.

So you're willing to "write off" 2 amazing breweries in Bruery and Stone and all of the other beer they produce because of a limited/special release beer?
