Top 250 vs Bottom 100

    Every once and awhile I like to check the top 250 beers list to see if I had made any progress. Needless to say I have not. In fact the # of beers I have had of the list shrinks with every new hazy NE IPA added to the list. Currently I have had 7 beers off the top 250 with 2 beers on the list waiting in the fridge. Today for the first time I noticed there was a Bottom 100 list of beers so I checked it out and was pleased to see that I had only had 6 of them. I was thinking tho that I could really clean up chasing the bottom 100 beers :wink:

    So what are you guys at? How many top 250s and how many bottom 100?

    I've always found the Beers of Fame list to be a much easier list to try and tick off as many on the list have wider distribution and are more easily obtainable without trading/waiting in line/selling your soul. Back in 2009 when I joined the site, the main Top Beers list more closely resembled the Beer of Fame list because of the weighting at the time.

    Top 250 - 55/250
    Beers Of Fame - 148/250
    Top New Beers - 7/250
    Bottom of The List - 19/100

    2,593 total beers rated/reviewed which means most of the beers I drink may not be the best, but it doesn't mean i don't enjoy them.

    Good call on the beers of fame count. Not that it matters as long as the beer you're drinking is good to you.

    I hadn't tallied the bottom 100 before. I was hoping I would break 50! Best in state is shrinking with Tired Hands growing in popularity. It looks like they've got 23 of the top 100 in PA.

    Beers of Fame: 64
    Top New Beers: 11
    Best in State: 26
    Bottom 100: 34

    16 of the top 250, 68 beers of fame, 7 top new beers, and 21 bottom of the list.

    13 bottom 100
    48 beers of fame
    Trying to get to 50 top 250s and it gets tougher when you get over 30 and don't trade much.

    That is me. I just recently made my first 2 trades and that has lead me to 3 top 250 beers. Definitely the beers of fame list would be where it's at and if anyone is close to completing the bottom 100 hats off to you as well.

    I've had maybe a dozen of the bottom of the list, but never reviewed or rated any. Maybe I'll add that to my review queue.

    At one point i had around 230 or so of the top 250 ticked but the retired beers drop off and then the ratings shuffle dropped me down to about 190. Working my way back up the list but it is a difficult task.

    Currently at

    Top 250: 221
    Beers of Fame: 202
    Top New Beers: 105
    Bottom 100: 47

    Not too bad on the Beers of Fame. I almost didn't go through the Top New Beers. But I wasn't surprised. I loathe Prairie Bomb! and all its disgusting variants so I haven't touched that. Everything I've had from Epic has tasted foul. And I haven't traveled to the northeast in the last few years so I've never seen 90% of the list.

    Cool thread-didn't feel like counting-But I did notice that AB has 10 out of the bottom 20...AND I can't make heads or tails out of the rating system...it's like if 100 people say a new beer is a 5.0 then it goes to the top of the list over a beer that's been rated by 1000 people who rate that beer a 4.5...???? The Bros. do a great job though.....
