I'm going to be in SAV for 4 nights in early May. I will be quite busy so I'm looking for the top 3 places I must visit.

Also, looking for some Southeastern stouts. I have a trade in the IP trade forum, you can also check out "wants" and "gots" for additional options.

    Cheers!

Southbound is in Savannah, haven't been but they make some great beers. Moon River is in the city too but I haven't tried their stuff.

Southeastern stouts you can pick up in a store include Southbound Moonlight Drive (coffee stout), Burnt Hickory Big Shanty (graham cracker stout) and Terrapin Liquid Bliss (peanut butter stout). Jailhouse has a decent imperial stout though I forget what it's called. Those should all still be on shelves, although I really limited it to GA stouts. For whatever reason, not as many breweries down here focus on stouts.

Distillery and Crystal Beer Parlor are the big names in beer bars but they're on the outskirts of the historic area. Moon River is the only brewpub in town and is brewing some decent IPAs and an interesting brett saison. They also have a large beer garden and are located on Bay so that's typically where I direct people from out of state to drink near the river.

At least spend some time walking through the historic squares. It's really a very beautiful city. You can drink outdoors in the historic area (maybe the whole city?) so you can grab a beer in a go cup and check out the scenery.

Moon River's The Bomb is a great Irish stout, I recommend pairing that with their bacon wrapped dates. Fiddler's has a great draft list too.

Awesome, thanks for all of the information, so far!

Prefer local spots over Applebee's and TGIF menus and tap lists.

    For me -
    1) The Distillery – Love the beer and food selection.
    2) Moon River – Improving beers and a great beer garden.
& a tie for 3 between Churchill’s & Molly MacPhersons. Both have some decent taps, I like the prices at Molly’s.
It is a great city, walk around and soak in some history then soak in some beers!

    How about bottle shops, too?

Habershams on Abercorn, outside of the historic district. There's a place called The Beer Growler also. No bottles, but large growler list.

If you go to The Distillery, my buddy Matt Kubiak is the head chef there. He's had a large hand in their approach to craft beer too. Tell him Gugs said what's up.
