    No. 7 Isn't even a sour, just a Brett beer.

    Love me some Consecration. They definitely could have chosen a worse #1.

    I personally prefer Belgian sour beers. Also I personally find Le terroir to be much better than La folie.

    For an American sours list, you could do worse. I sad panda'd at the lack of Atrial Rubicite which I like over every sour on this list that I've had (except maybe Consecration, debateable), but to each their own.

    I've had 5 on that list, but I certainly wouldn't consider La Folie or La Roja to be among the best. I actually really enjoy sours, and I did not like La Folie at all.

    Consecration, Sour in the Rye, and Apricot are all amazing, and an argument could be made for any of them at #1.

    I would add Oude Tart to the list. I haven't had any of the other RRs, but I can't imagine a top 10 list of sours would only include 1 of them.

    I mostly disagree with the list, but I am very happy with what they have on there:wink:

    I can't quite order these:

    * Russian River - Supplication
    * Russian River - Consecration
    * Cascade - Apricot
    * Bruery - Sour in the Rye
    * Bruery - Oude Tart
    * Bruery - Windowsill
    * Almanac - Farmer's Reserve Series
    * Almanac - Sour Bourbon Porter
    * Almanac - Valley of the Hearts Delight
    * New Belgium - Le Terroir
    * Upright - Fatali Four

    Far more than 10 if you count all of Almanac's Farmer's Reserve series, but these are all amazing sours. I've got a few more Cascades that I'll be adding to the list soon.

    Apparently the Avery barrel series sours aren't widely enough distributed for consideration, because they're really good.

    "Perhaps in response to American brewers’ never-ending quest to produce the hoppiest beers possible, a handful of daring brewers in the mid-1990s turned to a beer style that dates back for centuries, yet was rarely explored in the States: sours. The range of beers, which stretch from Flanders Brown and Red and Oud Bruin to Gouze, Lambic, Kriek, and Berliner Weisse....."

    My problem with this article is that it perpetuates the false idea that "sours" is/are a beer style. The examples they mention are actual beer styles. The only thing they have in common is a sour taste characteristic.

    Fun list. I've had five of those, and apparently I need to get around to cracking open my Dissident and La Roja.

    I like the idea of creating a top 10 "sours" because it makes you think long and hard, since the sour categorization includes a bunch of different styles. And I feel like the article acknowledges that "sour" isn't a style.

    I also like the adherence to American versions only, so that Cantillon doesn't take up half of the list :slight_smile: Not sure I agree with including any Brett-only beers (#9 and #7), because while most sour beers utilize Brett, not all beers that have Brett are actually sour tasting. Plus it gets way harder to narrow down if things like

    But here is my personal top 10 (not in order)

    RR Supplication
    NB Le Terroir
    NB Tart Lychee
    The Bruery Hottenroth (so much better than Oarsman, imho)
    Boulevard Love Child
    Boulevard Foeder Projekt #1
    Cascade Blueberry
    Cascade Apricot
    Perennial La Boheme
    GI Gillian

    Honorable mention to RR Consecration.

    Avery and Crooked Stave. They would both man-handle that top-ten list.

    I'm not a sour fan yet but I had some DDG this weekend and it reminded me of Consecration. Both of those and Love Child #3 are better than anything else I've had but WTF do I know.

    My favorite sour has been 10 min of pleasure from trinity. It's like lemons.
