After trying Feral One at FW's Release Party on Saturday, I'd say it will make the next top ten sour list...and pretty high up.

Consecration is not only the best sour I've tried thus far but one of the best beers I've ever had. I enjoy supplication and numerous others as well but consecration is where it's at for my palate

Sadly I haven't tried any RR sour beers. Those would be really interesting to try...

Do elaborate on this. I've heard somebody else make the same argument, but someone further down in this thread also points out that sour isn't a style.

Anyone want to educate us here, please?

I hope I don't sound too provincial, but Night Shift In Everett, MA makes some beautiful sours.

List like this always make me wonder why we have Red IPA, White IPA, Brown IPA, Black IPA, Double IPA, Extra IPA...and yet seemingly everything that is remotely tart or gamey seems to simply be called a "sour."

It's a beer fermented with Brettanomyces, which does not produce acids under normal fermentation conditions. The confusing part is that most sour beers have Brett but just because a beer has Brett does not mean its sour. Lactobacillus and Pediococcus bacteria are lactic acid producing, that's what makes sour beer sour .

Lambic for example gets most of its flavor and aroma from Brett but gets its acidity from mostly Pedio.

    Hope that made snese.

Allagash Resurgam merits a mention here. Tried it alongside Cantillon and RR offerings at the Quintessence event recently and I was really pleased. And not because it's more, bigger, badder... It just fit well.

The way BA programs and American Wilds are popping up, this list is gonna be ever changing for a long time. Consecration is a fine number one, sometimes I like it more than Beat, sometimes I like Supplication the best and on a hotter than hell day I put Temptation in the top spot
