SR-71 is trademarked. Anyway, lets see what happens w Aurora. If they send another legal letter to Clark they are admitting to something they have previously denied exists.

I hear you… my only guess would be use of name. Totally agree that this is a very loose tie and in no way does their product relate or resemble the actual air plane. I feel like there are way more egregious name infringements in the beer industry than this.

Well if this was 5 years ago he would have had to spend $800 probably. LOL

I can't understand spending that kind of money on a beer. To each their own and everything but I haven't had a beer yet I'd be willing to spend that kind of money on.

Being able to cash out vacation days at the end of every fiscal year has its perks lol. I get 25 vacation days per year along with 12 sick days and 3 personal days so I always end up making nice bank and splurging on something nice every July 1st.

If you saw some of my beer purchases you would probably I’m an absolute idiot. Hell, I wouldn’t blame you.

On a related note, SR-71 is one of the best 3 beers I’ve ever had and Toppling Goliath makes some of the best non-adjunct stouts. I wasn’t going to miss out on this beer period, and I couldn’t trade for it since the only beers I have in my cellar are beers I’ve never had before and plan on drinking.

Anyone try the new sue mix packs? Thinking about picking one up. Already tried Pseudo Sue and DDH (both excellent) and the mosaic/galaxy twists look interesting.

Recently tried the Peacherine hopped one and though it was fantastic as well (though very pricy at $17 a 4-pack).

Took one for the team and bought one of these boxes today and drank 1 can of each.

The price was the first thing I noticed - $27 for the pack at my local store, or $13.50 for a 6-pack equivalent. Not horrific but definitely on the pricey side. The same store sells the Surly Mixed 12-Pack for $20 and the Pseudo Sue 12-pack for $21, so this is definitely a notch up.

    Now for the ratings:
    • Original Pseudo Sue - 4.5/5. An amazing beer, I still cannot believe how much they can pack into 5.8% ABV Pale Ale.
    • Galaxy Pseudo Sue - 4.0/5. I had a really hard time telling this apart from the original version... it did maybe taste a tad less citrusy, but if I didn't consume the original an hour before, I'm not sure I could tell the two apart. So taste-wise they are the same, but this one gets a -0.5 for the price difference.
    • Mosaic Pseudo Sue - 3.75/5. Upfront the taste is similar to the original, but the back end and aftertaste is really odd and somewhat unpleasant - almost metallic/medicine-like.
    • DDH Pseudo Sue - 4.75/5. Not much to be said - it takes all the good stuff in the original and cranks up the volume. Still my favorite TG brew after all these years.
I'm really glad I bought one of these and still have 8 beers left to drink over the next couple weeks, but I would probably not buy a second box a $27.

DAMN... I'm grabbing fresh cases on Monday from a small liquor store in bum f..k no where WI for 22.49. What is going on with those MN prices? I dont remember them being that bad whenever I had been over that way for beer.
Another reference point I've heard is Woodmans has them for 19.99 which sounds about right, though I haven't been able to confirm.

This really worries me as I've heard some pretty bad reviews of Mosaic so far. From what I can gather is it sounds like they may have a bad batch on there hands, possibly diacetyl. I'll report back when I have been in hand. Hoping this is not true or I get a good batch, as Mosaic has been my favorite of the bunch from time to time depending on the release year.

Most craft 12-packs in the Surly/Summit/Castle Danger (big but not hyperlocal microbreweries) go for $20-22 at local stores, closer to $18-20 at Total Wine.

But it does seem like special releases have gotten much more expensive in recent years. Last week I picked up a 4x16oz of Peacherine Pseudo Sue and it was $16.99. I've seen Surly special releases in the $18-20 for a 4x16oz pack.

Reports on the Sue pack after having one of each. This is fantastic, my mosaic batch is solid but the Galaxy run this batch is something special. DDH is always good and regular is at least fresh in the pack.

This is one of craft beers best mix packs hand down.

What does everything think about Aurora? Had it over the weekend and personally thought it was amazing, but absolutely blew my mind that this was non-adjunct. It was incredibly vanilla heavy for me and if I hadn’t known it was non-adjunct beforehand, I would have bet my life that it was brewed with vanilla beans.
