I live near Indianapolis and was planning on attending the Assassin and KBBS releases but have a family wedding on 6/21. Anyone from Indiana heading to the Assassin event?

I don’t normally have access to Toppling Goliath and primarily am aware of their stouts, but they make some pretty good IPAs

Had this beer the other night on draft and did not look like that at all, it was so non hazy i thought it was a west coast version of Sue ...

Saw the Assassin announcement, I know that using a proxy is part of the privilege of their membership, but I'm surprised that it's a single day and time slot for pickup. I guess Decorah must be an easy trip for more folks than I thought. I enjoy the Assassins but will continue to pass until this changes. I'm guessing there are more folks like me that aren't close to the brewery but I guess nothing will change until it's necessary.

Hey guys - I didn’t want to start a new thread, but I’m interested in trying to come up for this years Mornin Delight release in August. To be honest I’m not sure I could even pull it off, but I’m curious to know how crazy it will be? Is it a mess? Worth making a trip for? Thanks in advance.

The brewery is huge and can handle big crowds.
    Great tap list for events.
Probably some extra BA bottles to go other than MD. Get there closer to open if you are hoping to score a better bonus offering.
I always meet cool people when we go to TG. Have made the 4.5 hour drive from Chicago suburbs probably 15 times.

    Negatives.
    Far drive.
TG staff and social media is not always the best about communicating things to the public, and among their staff. I have been told contradictory things on more than one occasion at a release. Some people get real upset about these poorly communicated details. The good has always outweighed any bad for me.

Decorah is a cool little town. My wife enjoys the beer but also loves shopping the little stores in the downtown area.
If you can go and can enjoy the taplist, I think it is a no brainer.

I've been there twice from Pittsburgh - I enjoy Decorah - the only thing I don't like is the hoops you have to jump through to get there. But once you're there, TG is awesome, Pulpit is awesome. Some cool spots to eat at. Definitely recommend doing it if you never have.

Does anyone have any insight into how TG is doing lately? Don't see them nearly as much here in MN... some of their beers like King Sue have actually become quite difficult to find.

Perhaps not helpful, but they are shelf-turds in Chicago. Plenty of very old IPA's on shelves around bottle shops here.

They are probably hurting. Craft beer in general is in a decline. They aren't hurting enough to allow proxies for Assassin though!

From a beer perspective (and I’m saying this as someone who has been a big TG fan), their stouts are missing the mark lately. MD isn’t what it used to be, last year’s and this year’s Assassin releases were flops, and they’re not making anything new. Maybe Mike Saboe is out of ideas.

Man, I thought last year's Assassin was pretty good.

Really? Interesting. It tasted flat to me, nothing compared to 2023. And this year’s was flat as well.

Maybe my expectations are too high for TG.

I got 2-week-old DDH King Sue here in the Twin Cities, and it was fantastic. Like Treehouse level. I just moved here from the East Coast, and a lot of the other beers around here have disappointed me, but this was top notch.

I see you were from Virginia. I’m gonna hit corks and kegs in Richmond on the way to the beach today. Says they have DDH king sue. Hoping that’s still the case
