I agree that it was pretty stupid but there is just no way they can keep everyone happy with how small the supply versus demand is... Lottery would be the most fair though. I hit refresh a billion times and gave up after they announced it was sold out and went on with my life only to see people getting in after the fact on this thread several hours later. I buy a lot of TG through the course of the year and have been to the brewery a few times for King Sue, ect and just haven't ever had to change to try MD and wanted to nail some down for my bachelor party/ wedding. Oh well life goes on and there is other beer out there.

This would just encourage more people to sign up and then sell their ticket to the highest bidder, plus create a further administrative burden on the brewery to deal with the transfers. Also, when you are only paying $5 to reserve your spot, you avoid having people try to argue that they already purchased the bottles and TG should hold them or give them to someone else (which would be the case if people paid upfront). Sure, you could craft up a disclaimer that says you forfeit your bottles, but why expend the legal fees to do that while people will still complain that they couldn't make it

I agree with you all fully, and i totally get the bidding war that would happen if you could transfer these freely. I was mainly looking on the end of I fully anticipate to be in attendance for the event but if something were to come up with work/personal/health and we had a friend who didnt get a ticket why shouldnt you be able to give it to him so he can go enjoy it. Id imagine they would probably be open to it if you could prove some sort of hardship but who knows..

Of all of the ideas mentioned, being able to transfer tickets is the worst. Imagine how many more people would be hitting the site if they could sell it off for whatever people would pay.

A $5 ticket for a claim to purchase 2 bottles of beer? Sorry but hardship does not apply here. And I don't think TG will have any issue selling the 2 bottles of beer down the road should the ticket purchaser not show up.

I can't help but notice two things. One, you live in Connecticut. Two, that you already made a post attempting to buy more tickets to the Morning Delight release:

    Hey guys,

Looking to get an MD release ticket for either session. Cant make the event for some reason? Ill take it off your hands. Can trade or pay cost +50 for it. Looks like you can do a name change if you cannot make it.

New Glarus and Side Project are next state neighbors that run releases 1000x better then whatever you call yesterday. Giving 10,000+ people a 3 hour notice was a disaster waiting to happen. The fact that Clark got on twitter an hour later and barely acknowledged that it was a disaster came off like arrogance.

If they don't like how New Glarus or Side Project do it, how about what Voodoo did... buy tickets ahead of time at the brewery. That way the loyal/local supporters get them: no crashing websites, zero no shows taking away bottles from others, and no wasted man hours sending emails .

As stated above. If you don't show up they will more than likely take the bottles and sell them at the tap house. It clearly stated no transfers. I assume to keep this from happening they have a list from BPT of names of people that have a ticket and will double check that. If you don't show up I don't think TG will be sad.

I don't think TG will be sad about no shows, the problem is people that actually wanted and are able to cannot because someone bought some and didn't think about logistics. They will eventually be sold but not on the release day.

and now there's some guy on FB trying to move Schera's Zwanze tickets for MD tickets. Apparently if you can't hoard/trade the limited beer you need to try to hoard/trade the tickets to beer???

This would be similar to a silent drop -- sure, a few locals would be happy, but the reason they are happy is because the locals hauled in their aunts, cousins, Pizza Ranch workers, etc. to buy tickets for them. See, e.g., the Rue the Crown silent drop.

I think the majority of the tickets yesterday did, in fact, go to the "loyal supporters" - people that wanted to go so much they stuck around and dealt with the crashed website. It was the mules that were told - "hey, go try this link at 4:20" that gave up right away when their computer crashed. At least that's what my Nana told me, anyways.

Of the 15 or so people I know that wanted to get tickets (and who would be considered "loyal supporters"), all but one stuck it out and got at ticket. The one that did not is still coming to the shares that day, which says a lot in my book about what a "true supporter" is.

I can only imagine that if this went to Mug Club only (which is the easiest way for them to do it and arguably includes the locals and the loyal supporters) how angry/upset people would be. There is no winning here for them. Even if they made all the MD you could handle, you'd have the crowd complaining that trade values have dropped.

I think everyone should keep in mind that no one at TG is personally trying to screw you, and that they will do what they can to improve on the experience the next time around.

Your buddy can go to the C&C share, the TG share at 4 when it opens to the public, and you can give him one of your bottles. Problem solved!

I disagree that a true TG supporter is someone familiar with BPT and how big beer releases on that and similar sites work. TG has never done a release like that so why would any of them know how to navigate that mess?

I will agree the the TC folks seemed to fair far, far better than the Iowa TG fans that apparently just weren't supportive enough.

And RtC is a dishonest example. Weren't there only like 24 bottles released that day? There just might be that many engaged locals in Decorah.

Rue the crown silent drop was 12 bottles. Hardly the case here.
