Well, considering that a bomber of FFF's better stuff will go for $10-15, I think $6.99 is perfectly reasonable. And if said bomber lives up to the hype (haven't had 'em, can't comment), then it will certainly sell here. Hell, Maine's Lunch sells like hotcakes here in Chicago, and I think we've got a million better options, that also happen to be cheaper.

Maine's beers sell out in the city!? Shit, those things malinger on shelves out here in the 'Burbs as though they were brewed by Finch's or Furthermore.

If/when Toppling Goliath makes it out here, only its name-brand recognition will likely propel it to any sort of heights. There's too much good stuff here (so to speak) for us to really care about yet another set of pales and whatnot, no matter the format.

I've never seen MBC's Lunch in the burbs. I've seen other stuff from them but never Lunch, which I've always wanted to try due to the hype train.

TG is literally driving cases upon cases themselves to WI. If they figured out distribution better, that would help you.

Yeah, I was only referring to Lunch. The rest do sit there.

For what it's worth (probably nothing, since you don't really know my taste), I was excited to try Lunch, and was very disappointed. It's perfectly solid, but I could probably come up with a list of a dozen IPAs/DIPAs in Chicago (not to mention the rest of the Midwest/West Coast/East Coast/etc.) that I think are better.

Has improved greatly over the last year though. Deschutes, Oscar Blues,Evil Twin,Green Flash, Smuttynose and Wyerbacher were all nice additions, not to mention that green flash now owns Alpine and we are starting to see some of those beers. Nelson, Duet, Hoppy B-Day and others on tap at Hop Cat.

Normally stay away from these threads but just felt like I needed to say something...

Clark (TG) was quoted many times when TG started out that self distribution was the only way to get an APA or IPA to the consumer fresh. He went on at length that a fresh APA or IPA is the only one worth drinking because the flavor profile will immediately start to fade. So how is beer brewed outside of Iowa and shipped back into the distribution footprint the same??? He also swore that TG beer would never be copied or brewed outside of TG and spoke very negatively about any brewery that would sellout in that way.

I believed in this brewery and still have a few of the first Morning Delight and second year Assassin bottles, not those purchased and refilled with other liquids either. Mike made it easy to believe in TG, or maybe it was that reply to say thanks for some stupid post about Naught Temple at midnight on this site.

Something changed at TG and even if the beer did tasted 100% the same as before, TG is not the same brewery it was a few years ago. I think everyone knows exactly what happened and I will just leave it at that.

Say what you want but I will enjoy those last few bottles and move on to the next Toppling Goliath.
God that was a good name for at least a couple of years...

I like when people compare price per ounce bombers to 4/6-packs. If the beer is released in multiple formats, then go ahead and compare. Otherwise, stick to bomber/bomber comparison. Of course, buying a 4-pack (even highly priced ones) will be a better value than a bomber. But to say TG bombers are "overpriced" relative to what we have here? You're crazy.

I believe we're getting a shipment of Lunch in the 'burbs today. Check your local Binny's. I know my go-to store is getting some this afternoon.

Of course. And I would expect Sue to be priced right in line with our other 4-packs (Overrated, Furious, Senita, Daisy Cutter, etc....and hopefully NvU). Again, bombers of Sue are $6.99. Assume $7.99-8.99 here. Looking around and seeing FFF at $12.99-13.99, and Pipeworks right in there as well. I welcome them to our market with Steve Perry's open arms.

I like to compare contents regardless of the container (or creator, for that matter).

If your beer is a 5.8% ABV APA then a $6-8.99 bomber price point is insane.

If the beer in question is a 10-11% ABV IIPA for $9-11.99, it's still stupid but less-so than the APA I mentioned.

As said; I'll buy sixers of Fist City (a 5.5% ABV APA) over PseudoSue everyday of the week. Toppling Goliath's beers don't get me so stiff in the pants that I forget how to handle money.

He's made it a point to make sure everyone knows this is NOT contract brewing! They have complete control over the product being made in Florida...while they're in Decorah.

They are quadrupling or quintupling or whatever......the output because they have begun to subcontract their brewing to BrewHub. TG will be the first beers brewed at BrewHub's new facility in St. Louis. I've had some varying quality and tastes with Sue over the past year and a half. Let's hope there are no issues with quality in this endeavor. Brewhub is currently brewing Dorothy for them in Lakeland, FL, its in the tap room there. Same place is also brewing a bunch of CCB beers too, including Jai Alai.

They are paying someone to brew their beer - that is contract brewing!

You really didn't get the point of the post - so enjoy TG and I hope nothing changes at all. And don't worry because there will be more of their beer to go around and at least a few less people buying it. So all in all its at least a win for you - cheers!
