Trillium isn't exactly a bastion of reasonable pricing though.

I would agree with the Pseudo Sue/Alchemist comparisons (I'd have to do a side by side to see whether it's more Heady than Focal). But that type of IPA is slowly beginning to be something I don't enjoy as much as I used to.

I recall it being the same level of haze as Lawson's/Alchemist as well.

King Sue was it's own turbid animal, as my picture indicates. Very very piney/weed-like, but not in a West Coast IPA way. An interesting beer. Not $15/bomber interesting though.

Are you saying you still like IPAs (hazy, tropical) but you don't like the dank/piney types?

King Sue and Pseudo Sue are all Citra beers, Pompeii and Sosus are all Mosaic.

Why is it that beers need to be opaque and or turbid for people to think their good, or worth spending money on? I don't understand that at all.

    Not exactly.

My palate has changed over the years, because I used to really really like Heady Topper, and now I think it's just ok (not poorly made, just not a favorite of mine anymore, still dig the beer though).

And overly bitter West Coast styles have become off-putting to me. Beers like Green Flash's West Coast IPA in recent months.

But I also like piney beers too, last year's Celebration Ale was killer, one of my favorite IPAs of last year. Granted that's a well-balanced (for an IPA anyways) IPA.

If this was in reference to my post, I could care less how turbid the beer is. As my response to @jlordi12 indicates, I dig all sorts of IPAs.

I also love Noble hops for what it's worth. When they pop in a fresh German Pils it's one of the best flavor profiles in beer, especially when they're complimented with a nice Pils malt backbone.

I'm still more enamored with Alchemist beers than you describe, but I really hear you on certain west coast IPAs just not really speaking to me anymore.

A friend left some Brew Free or Die (21st Ammendment) over my house a couple weeks ago and I was almost taken aback at how little I enjoyed it. I know that's not exactly a super top shelf example, but it's exactly the kind of beer that was my bread and butter for quite a long time. Dale's is another that doesn't do much for me these days despite drinking cases of it in the day.

Psuedo Sue at Olde Bedford package store, $15/4 pack. Got the only refrigerated one, the remaining packs are on their warm shelves.

Yeah... the place is overpriced and has minimal actual refrigerated storage. And yet somehow they seem to be beloved by distributors. I'll buy from them once in a while (cans only). The real egregious thing is that whenever they get Lunch they leave a couple of bottles sitting next to the registers to show off that they have it... just out in the open by the huge plate windows. For like ten bucks a bottle.

Yet, they are close to my house, so I pop in every once in a while.

I tried the Pompeii and just thought it was just OK.

Anyone tried the Dorothy Lager yet? Saw it at a store yesterday.

Got some King Sue at Wegman's in Burlington tonight. $12.99 for a bomber. Great aroma, beautiful haze (hey, I buy into the haze hype), the taste is lesser than the aroma but it's nice:

Unfortunately I think this was the last one at that store. They said they'd received very little, and this was the only thing they had left. I was not disappointed.

Can't tell you when the state will get more, but I might be willing to do some trading for some Tree House, if interested.

Late reply, but Iowa didn't have much either. There is a rumor that some stores here in Iowa have been getting some this week, so there's a chance I might be able to pick up more, and would be willing to trade some.
