I've had Iowa PsuedoSue a few times & honestly, I don't think it's much better than the Florida stuff. I don't get the love for this beer.

it's a good beer. most of the time people split hairs when saying x beer is better than y beer. the truth is we (in Chicagoland) are surrounded by good beer, and pseudoSue is one of them.

Picked a case up from the Naperville Costco on Sunday...they had a bunch left.

I have a theory on the "recipe" for Florida Sue. They take 12 ounce bottles of Iowa Sue, dump them in the 16 ounce cans, then top them off with Dorothy.

Try the DDH versions. Guaranteed to change your opinion.

If only it were that easy!

Even so, I don't think that's really a fair comparison. Aside from the various hop changes, even the standard DDH is obviously EXTRA citra-hopped. Even if it's 1000x better than standard bottled PS, that doesn't help the poor slobs like me that won't be seeing it any time soon.

Yeah, I almost edited my response to say "Will do...assuming I move to Iowa".

I doubt I'll have access to the DDH versions anytime soon.

Whether canned or bottled, the common element for the best Sue's I've had are recent freshness dates. Just like ZD, when it falls off, it isn't what you are hoping for. BTW, I wonder if there is a market for people who like malty beers and not hops that search out past date IPAs...Lol.

Still haven't seen anything fresher than 1/26 in the market. Anyone seen a February can yet?

I realized a month ago that it's not that far of a drive up to Wisconsin....

I'm assuming the DDH versions are highly coveted and might disappear by the time I can make it up on weekends...

Probably - I'd imagine they are in the bucket King Sue where it sells out quicker than someone from Chicago area could make it up there. But you can find a lot of TGB bottles with a little over or a little under an hour drive depending where you live.

For what it's worth, the only place I commonly go in WI doesn't even get Sue bombers (outside of the rare King Sue bomber, which I've never seen there). They weren't even aware PsuedoSue came in bombers.

I know that Mars Cheese Castle had bombers of DDH PseudoSue just two weeks ago. Probably long gone by now, but good to know that there's a place (relatively) close that has these available.

Yeah, I assumed that area is a good spot to try, I'm just rarely in that area.
