I never had Tsunami before. Picked up one of the 1/30 4 packs. I'll report back as soon I have a cold one.

As you might have read on my big post a few pages back, it's... not one of my favorites.

So its got a big candied orange aroma. The taste is that toasty malt I get in FL Sue but more of it. This is pretty good. I don't think I would get it again when I can get Sue but not bad.

Sorry I'm late to reply, @FBarber. All I know is when TG initially announced IL distribution on Twitter they indicated they'd be sending the King our way (among other beers). I have not seen those details fleshed out. When I heard King Sue blanketed Iowa recently I was hopeful it would come here. Heard some places in Wisconsin got it, but the bombers remain elusive in CHI.

Personally, Chicago offers too many options that easily compete with TG's Florida brews. The only canned stuff that could compete here is Pseudo Sue (no comment on Dorothy's, I'm not into lagers). I for one remain hopeful that the output from the new Decorah brewery will both be equal to or more than their current output and match the quality of the Decorah bombers.

I took TG's announcement that KS was coming here as "when the new brewery is up and running".

Gotcha. I must have stopped reading the rest of the quote to focus on my orgasm from the thought of King Sue coming to Chicago.

I didn't. I took it as we are putting only 5 beers in this market...

Breakthru is known for overbuying and ruining fresh beers.

Ballast point and Toppling are the most obvious examples. There are others but does anyone ever see fresh Sculpin in Chicago anymore?

I'm kind of worried about Odell. Thankfully, all of Odell's beers are more balanced and won't be hurt as much as BP or TG. But Odell is one of my favorite breweries in the world and I worry they fall to the same problems Ballast Point has.

(I want to state that Odell beers have far better shelf life that the other two breweries listed above)

Just bought a 4 pack of Rover Truck oatmeal stout at Binny's Lincolnwood. Canned 2/23.

I laughed when I realized they are sending us fresh stouts & aged IPA's. (Yes I'm [kind of] joking)

I ran into some 2 week old Sculpin a few times last summer but it got worse by the fall. Now all the 6'ers I see in the burbs were still canned in 2016...

There were over 8 cases of 1/5 PseudoSue on the floor of the North Center Jewel today. Not sure who is gonna buy all that.

Binny's Grand and LP both have stacks and stacks of 1/5 PS as well. Couldn't find any newer than these shelf turds.

This is disappointing since this will be many people's first taste of TG. I (and many of us) have been fortunate enough to have their bombers and a couple fresh growlers from them. So I/we know how good TG can be. Hopefully in the coming weeks we get some fresh bombers versus some of these older cans from FL. Fingers crossed.

All stores by me have way too much of PS, not just the Binny's.

According to Binnys, the next TG beer coming to the IL market will be Golden Nugget.

I did buy some 1/23 PS a few weeks ago from Beer Temple, and have had the last couple this week. I still enjoy them, but I certainly wouldn't look to buy something as old as 1/5 at this point.

Ha! I thought the same thing. Rover (2/23), Tsunami (early Feb), Dorothy (late Jan), and PS (1/26 I think) stacked up at Champaign Binny's tonight.
