This is true. It was good, but when you've had DDH Sue, King, Xhops Pink, etc. Teal just seemed weak as an offering. Then when there is a King release we get none...

And Pink paled in comparison to Gold. Take Teal for what it is worth, a tasty offering.

couldn't agree more, unless i've been extremely unlucky with my can selection.

psuedo, golden nugget, tsunami have all been mediocre on my first go around.

The thing that kills me is that I've had almost uniformly excellent bombers from TG. I'm not saying I'd pick up Sosus every time it hit, but it'd be a great go-to if I wanted to scratch a mosaic itch. Same goes for any version of bottled Sue they can crank out in mass quantities.

I'm not asking for KS or DDH PS, but I'd feel a lot better if it didn't feel like we were getting TG's "leftovers."

At least these pretty-fresh cans of PS are proof that we're getting stuff quickly, I guess...

TG set up a really nice canning station, so hopefully that means good things to come. I just fear by the time they finally get around to it, everyone will have either caught up or surpassed them even on a local level.

Also, it seems like this new building has been going up for quite some time. Did Tree House start that much earlier than them, or did they just get theirs completed in a timely fashion?

to be honest, i've only had king sue once, and it was at the field museum because they have it on tap at the bar there
i thought it was incredible though, but could not justify buying a bomber of it from the museum at the price point it was at (i don't remember exactly, but like 25 bucks or something like that).

To be honest, I'd be fine with this. If everyone else "surpasses" them, I now have two great options:

    1) Chase magical beers better than TG's Sue line (I'm a citra crackhead, so they'd have to be citra)

    2) Let others chase the "better" stuff, and pick PS and KS shelf turds up at will!

Both of those choices sound awesome.

They introduced themselves to the Chicago will old beer and a weak bomber.

    Yes, we get the leftovers.

Too many good local beers to drink here. TG is dead to me.

Since when is Mars Cheese Castle setting the prices of TG bombers at the Field Museum? :stuck_out_tongue:

Tons of Sosus in Iowa and WI this week - so hopefully that hits around here in the next couple weeks.

Saw PseudoSue cans yesterday dated 7/25 at a Marino's. Pretty sure that's the freshest I've seen after the backlog of months old stuff was cleared here.

I'm not too beat up about IL not getting any of this run of King Sue. If the Twitter posts I saw last night are to be believed, at least a portion of what was distributed out last week is over 3 months old.

TG of course says nothing wrong with that. "Cold storage" they claim.

    *shrug*

Well, at least it's not just IL that's getting months-old beer from TG...

I'm sure Toppling Goliath is making a lot more money since canning and wider distro (congrats to them), but honestly outside of buying their beer right in Decorah I have absolutely no interest in picking up any of their offerings in Chicago these days. There's enough quality stuff out of and distributed in Chicagoland that they dont even crack the the 'consideration' tier when I'm looking to buy beer.

Yep! The local scene is thriving. I'd buy a 4 pack of the DDH Sue if it ever hits Chicago.

It doesn't even crack the ''consideration" tier when I visit friends in Iowa anymore, unless it's a special bomber. The cans have zero appeal.

TG claims an 8 month shelf life on their beers. I was gonna send a trade partner a KS as an extra one time and noticed it was 30ish days old. I had two so I drank one and it had fallen off enough that I opted not to send it. It's total B.S.

8 months is a ridiculous claim, even were it true. I had cans of Beer Hates Astronauts that fell off after being refrigerated for a couple months. No way am I letting a beer whose entire claim to fame is super bright hops sit around for more than half a year.

It is true. My new distributor cannot pick up any TG unless it's 8 months old. I have 6 cases of NugMo that is FINALLY getting picked up and credited.

Holy shit. Well, that explains the old-ass TG stuff I run into in Lake Geneva sometimes. That's ridiculous.
