I have been attempting to trade some Sue (also including Zombie Dust and KBS in the trade) for Hill Farmstead this week, but to no avail. Am I overestimating the desire for this beer? Maybe I just need to give it time as it has only been in bottles a couple weeks now.
Outside of a handful of states nobody knows anything about Toppling Goliath yet. Although that is rapidly changing. Also, trying to trade Pale Ale's and IPA's to people from Vermont is going to be an uphill battle.
I can understand that. I have just seen people trading some big guns for Morning Delight and Assassin, and I know those are much more limited and highly rated, but still. Thanks for the input.
Considering they make the best in the world, yep. I think a lot of it is because people don't know it yet. People know Mornin Delight and Assassin now, so it should start catching on. HF wasn't always the hype machine and instawhale for everything it is now, even though the quality was there. Trading is almost all about hype unless you're doing locals for locals.
TG Naughty Temple and Sosus isn't even getting a bite for an open West Coast trade. Nobody cares (yet). I have successfully traded with folks out East though. Do a $4$ trade, get the TG into other people's hands. The experience will tell them to want more. Forget hype, let the brand build on quality.
Pretty much this. TG has been on my radar for a little while now, but as a VTer I'd rather just drink the growlers myself. It's an odd situation. We trade our beers reasonably (and this IS a reasonable trade, IMO) with our regular trading partners, but a lot of us don't have the time or money to complete more trades with strangers. On the flip side, a lot of people make a long drive to come up and fill growlers, and those people tend to "hold them hostage" more often. Obviously that's far from universal, but definitely a trend.
I appreciate the feedback. I think I was basing my trade offer off of how often I had seen ISO: Assassin and MD. I'm certainly not offended by it. I was more so just curious.
Assassin and MD are limited releases, and hot at the moment. A "flavor of the week" kind of thing. I'm not trying to say the beers aren't great (never had either) but the frequency of ISO:FT threads about those beers will die down in a couple weeks. Right now it's on everyone's radar, and everyone is trying to land them. Soon only the folks who missed out and really, really want those beers (or those who drank them and loved them) will be looking
