Has anyone heard anything about a May 4th tapping at Toppling's brewery? If I remember correctly, they've usually tapped a MD keg or something for "May the 'force' be with you".

 

It was MD last year. Heard rumors a few weeks back while I was down there that it might be SR-71 but this was un-confirmed from another source. Also Clark did have a bottle of Assassin and KBBS pouring last year if I remember correctly. MD was gone that night if anyone is wondering how long it lasts.

 

Any word on when MN will be getting Scorpius bottles?

 

I am thinking next week but can't confirm that other than it usually takes around 2 weeks after they drop bottles in the taproom to show up here and I seen a TG tap takeover event somewhere in MN next week that has it on the tap list.

 

Most of the beer I buy now is Golden Nugget and Pseudo Sue cans. If King Sue and FSM are available in cans I might not buy any other beer than TG. Unless Barn Town starts canning.

 

I'm in agreement with Averwo. Other than Founders FBS or Sumatra Mtn. I only purchase TG. Been fortunate to get fresh Sue, Golden Nugget, Pompeii, and the occasional Supa Sumo, Mosiac GN, etc. Exile has been great in their IPA offerings lately. But TG has my wallet. Now if Barn Town started bottling regularly............

 

This and the @Averwo comment are spot on. TG is proving once again they that they are the masters of what they do. 4 pack of TOP QUALITY Sue, Pompeii, Gnug for under $10, and King & FSM cans on the horizon. I really wonder if any of us thought that this quality was possible to produce on this scale for TG a few years back? This expansion was truly worth the wait.

 

I really expected them to be Surly 2.0. Not the case. There was the early off batch or two of canned Sue, and since then it's been consistent and delicious.

 

Happy to see them prosper, sad to see best local trade bait die.

 

What's the latest Sue canning people are seeing (and where you are seeing them)?

 

Gnug is on point. Fridge staple here on out.

 

Had 3/15 & 4/6 from Traders Joe's in Madison last weekend. 3/15 was still tasting better.

 

Just picked up some 3-15 Sue from my local grocery store in my town of 1300. Never thought that would ever happen.

What are people's thoughts on the new batch of Scorpius Morchella? Personally, I really enjoyed this in the Spring of 2017 when it was released. Hoping the new bottled version is just as good.

 

It's not.... Had it fresh at the brewery yesterday and a bomber. Good but not what I had the last two years.

Other news: Nothing special was dropped on tap for May the 4th. Clark and MIke were out of town so thinking that may be why. King cans have been pushed back to July as of now, with another bottling run coming before that I guess.... Yay... As stated before by someone FSM cans will launch with it or right after that.

Not a single barrel of SR-71 in the barrel room, about 25-30 barrels of 2018 Assassin ( thinking this may see small distro next time), 1 barrel of a smoked porter, and 4 maple syrup barrels filled with KBBS.
