Last time was 1 KBBS & 2 Assassin for $200 (so implied price of $100 since the Assassin release was $50). Might have been a glass involved too?

In 2014 it was 1 bottle limit and was $25? Or was it $20?

TG can GTFO...I'll buy almost a case of BCBS on Black Friday for $100 instead.

Wow. I’m pretty sure you took every single word out of my mouth. Literally every single one, except I would have concluded instead with “HARD PASS.”

You obviously haven’t taken your username to heart. Cmon only another 40 dollars and you can have two beers! That’s an average of 70 dollars a beer! What a steal!

Not to derail this bullet train of anti-hype, but I also seem to recall TG’s twitter account claim that tweeting prices was illegal. Which federal agency do I call?

2014 was $25. I passed on it for that price. Thinking it will be the same this time lol.

Us too! Thank you for supporting our small batch stout art!"

LOL small batch stout... They brewed 100bbl of Morning delight (which they already made hand over fist money with) then aged only 6 barrels worth... That not small batch stout art, that's brewing a large batch of beer then sticking a small amount in barrels because you choose to.

And yet Subway employs sandwich artists for near minimum wages. Which art form makes me a more cultured person?

I used to hype TG. I used to chase after the bombers to drink and trade whenever they dropped back in the self-distro days. I used to reply to the tweets with pics and all that jazz. Nowadays I'm just so over this shit. There was the consistency issues. The lawsuit put a bad taste in my mouth. And if I'm being honest I felt burned paying $100 for Morning Delight in 2017 which is when I stopped entering the lotteries. Someone I know who was at Mornin Delight this year told me they hyped sales of extra bottles then only sold 30 friggen extras while he saw an entire pallet of bottles in back. Then they even found a way to ruin King Sue by turning it into another sub-par generic New England citra slurm bomb! Does anyone else remember clear, crushable, aromatic dank-ass weed smelling King Sue or am I crazy?

This brewery is like Icarus flying into the sun or Goliath just waiting for David to come along. It's fascinating to watch the reactions to the KBBS announcment as so many seem to be turning on them all at once. I don't even see the usual reluctant 'I guess I'll pay it' posts to the price. This seems like a turning point and I'm interested to see where it leads. Did we finally hit the ceiling with enabling this nonsense? I know I sure did.

TG values the impact of the hypebois over regional customers. That’s just the reality of how they distribute their whales. As an Iowan, you either win the worldwide lottery or you hope the keg (almost exclusively reserved for hypebois days) hangs on thru the whale hunter weekend. It’s likely a good business strategy, but it definitely leads to TG fatigue from real customers. They lose customers who’ve spent thousands on TG (many without any reasonable access to TG whales) and gain a bunch of folks who “hope I win so I can visit for the first time”. That could be sustainable with the new markets, but the bitching about Decorah releases isn’t going to stop given TG’s years long choice (predates most distro) to prioritize beer tourists over taproom customers.

After seeing the details announced, I was really wondering how long time/local TG customers feel about this release but I guess I have my answer. Everything about this release seems to just be about a money grab, and driving up the price of future releases.

The one bottle limit means that you don't have an extra bottle to trade. Not having it on tap means if you buy a ticket you really only have the one opportunity to try the beer (your bottle).

So who does that benefit? It doesn't benefit the people who have never had the beer before because you're asking customers to pay $100 for a hyped product they've never had in the hopes they will love it. It doesn't benefit the people who've had the beer before and loved it because if I've had it I'm way less likely to fork over $100 for a repeat experience. The only people it really benefits are those who plan to flip the bottle, because you can see your time and effort in tracking one down as an "investment" with a four figure payout.

That's just the sad reality from my perspective.
