Genuinely curious, what is the difference between "marketing", "hype", and "false hype"?

Also, I can't for the life of me imagine how Clark's tweet would benefit TG (e.g. the price is already set) nor why I should be upset about it or even care.

Won't touch the first point as yeah, I think they are all one in the same at this point.

As far as how it could theoretically benefit TG; if there was for some reason a belief that the $100 price tag was going to break the camels back and there would finally be some pushback and KBBS did not move like it should, it is all but extinguished with the idea that it may never be seen again. It is and was obviously always going to sell out, but if you were wanting to make sure you generated enough hype to overcome the price gouging, implying that it might be extinct would be a hell of a way to do it.

Now caring, yeah good luck on that one. I've read more than three TG tweets, so I realize it gets pretty easy to roll your eyes and move along if you aren't already a conductor on the runaway hype train.

Fair enough, don’t know all the history, I was off one year from 2013 bottling release and apparently was a pretty one off thing in 2012.

My point was more that it wasn’t #1 on this site until a little after the January release last year and certainly not 8 years which still is a lot longer than 2012.. If you go back enough on this thread you can read people pointing out when it overtook Good Morning.

Wouldn't it be more likely that Clark was just venting on social media in response to all of the criticism over the $100 price tag? As the last few pages of this thread started rolling, it sure as hell occurred to me that a possible solution would be not packaging it.

Yet some of you are going Scott Adams here, thinking that Clark is playing "4-dimensional chess". Pretty funny as satire, but I don't think that's the case.

Earlier in this thread, I said that is how I read it and said that draft or on-site only sounds like the best solution if both sides are truly that far off on how bottles should be handled. I'm with you there, I'm not under the assumption that this is an episode of the world's lamest episode of House of Cards.

Not sure why that would get people up in arms even if this were a ruse, it isn't anything new for TG or particularly egregious. Just throwing you a scenario of how it could benefit TG, not that it is or that it matters if so.

For what it's worth, ahead of the KBBS release, I logged into Etix 30 minutes early, and at the release time attempted to buy a ticket using 3 separate devices with 4 browser windows. Etix never even got to the stage where I could enter in my info and "put me in queue" for over 15 minutes. After being in queue for nearly 15 minutes, three of the four browser windows now say there are no tickets available and one is "in queue." Major bummer...

Etix crashed on me for about the first 5 minutes. Would not load at all.

It seems like most of the complaining has moved to Facebook. I feel like we used to have pages on here with only, “This system didn’t work, not fair! Use the other way!” Good times.

Personally didn't even try....ahaha....if others held true to their word on here, then that would explain the lack of complaining I imagine.

I did a pretty similar setup with multiple connections, devices, browsers and was thrown into the queue of doom as well. Oh well, I'll try again next time.

I took the opposite approach, I shut down everything that was online except my laptop, and I spent about 2 minutes in the queue, got through and got a ticket. I was surprised it worked, but also I was not overly invested, figuring if I didn’t get it I’d save $146 during the holidays.

What should I expect for this event? Is there a bottle share in line? I've been to many a dark lord day, but this release is a new one for me.

They do not allow bottle shares in line, or on premise during the events from what I have experienced. I imagine it will be a "grab your bottles, and enjoy what we have on tap and in our kitchen" type event.

Yeah, this KBBS release doesn't sound like it will be anything like the Assassin '18 release or MD b5 release. But who knows, they may pull something out without broadcasting first. And be on a lookout for local bar events. Usually they have something going on the night before with more limited releases.

You'll get to TG and line up for your session (no bottle shares). It doesn't really matter to show up extra early except to have more time in the tap room. Once inside they will get you your bottles and then you'll head to the tap room for pours, to go beers, and food. Once your session is over they will kick everyone out to prep for the next round. You won't be able to get back into the taproom until the public opening later in the day.

I mean, they say no bottle shares, but there are always a bunch that happen and Clark even goes around handing out pours of stuff.
