Toppling Goliath Releases and Updates

I'm pretty sure they hinted at a Saturday release, but they didn't announce it until Saturday morning right before they opened.

 

I would be very surprised if there was already 250 people lined up at opening tomorrow. However, I'm probably going to get in town at 10am just to scope things out.

 

I believe Bruno said on KXNO this morning that there'll be a keg of BA Chainsmoker at Little Giant this weekend. Did I hear him right?

 

You heard correct. Also going to have Richard the Whale, Arms Race, MoMo (Alluvial I think)...sounds like a damn good lineup.

 

I heard the same. Talked about smokey beers after that for a bit.
I had a Term Oil back to back with the NON BA Chainsmoker when I was up there (happened to blow TO and tap Chainsmoker while I was there) and TO blows Chainsmoker out of the water for me.

 

Adding fuel to rampant speculation fire. Well not really speculation, but prediction, I suppose.

The last BA Chainsmoker was basically silent until they tweeted when they opened Saturday of Labor Day weekend. No prior warning and a big holiday weekend (lots of folks couldn't just up and go to TG, I assume). It lasted like 5 hours? I'd expect this to last a lot less time. I could be wrong, but hey, it's a TG thread.

 

I'm guessing atleast 100 waiting at door tomorrow morning.

Hoping that if I get there at 11ish tomorrow, I'll have a chance. I'm trying to decide if driving the 3 hours there will be worth it or not.

 

I would imagine that it isn't going to last very long at all.

When they released it the first time, it was essentially unannounced. They hinted at it on Friday evening, but I know many people that were convinced that was not being released.

A buddy and I ended up making the trip up, assuming that the worst case was that we got to try Term-Oil and pick up some Sosus bottles. We got there at 10:00 AM expecting a line to already have started, but we were the only ones there. Nobody else showed up until well after 11:00, after TG tweeted that they were releasing it. There were people that had started driving based on the Friday tweets who showed up closer to Noon, which turned out to be plenty of time. As mentioned, the bottles lasted into the evening.

I would agree that tomorrow will sell out much quicker. The ratings have been strong. I heard from many people that they weren't interested in a smoked porter, but many people (myself included) have found the smoke to be very subtle and the beer is quite enjoyable. TG and Cycle certainly know what they are doing with barrels. The beer is doing well trading/selling. People will be out to flip those bottles.

 

Any word if Iowa getting ZeeLander distro....I am seeing MPLS/STPL have gotten it.....

 

Almost every place that sells beer up here in Madison has lots. It would be a shame if Iowans missed out.

 

Sooo, I'm planning on getting there around 10am, and waiting in a line for 2 hours. Can we bottle share in line at TG or is that not allowed? Not really sure how Decorah (or Iowa) would feel about that.

 

Also, what time is everyone in this thread planning on arriving?

 

Noonish. No sense in getting all crazy about it! It's a long-standing, self-fulfilling prophecy that if a bunch of people say "I'll be there at 10AM" people start to worry & before you know it there's a line at 8:30 AM.

Just chill. I can't imagine a line of 250 people forming before they open.

 

I won't be able to get there until 2:00. I really hope it lasts until then but realistically, I'd be surprised. If I don't make it in time I'll probably try and trade some Black Gold for one as I did get lucky in that lottery.

 

I'm getting into town around 11. Eating lunch with me 1.5 year old girl then making my way to the taproom around 11:45-12. Not sticking around though. Hopefully get Chainsmoker but if not I'll gladly be stocking up on other bottles.

Would someone be so kind as to post updates from the taproom this morning/afternoon? I can't hit the road until 11:45 for a 2:00 arrival today. If there are 200 folks at opening I'll just take my time and show up later in the afternoon and enjoy the other beers.

P.S. Please tell me there's no one in line now.
