They still had 4 bottles of each about an hour ago when I called. Not enough of a chance to have me make the trip.

Drinking the red right now. Great scent and and flavor. Super easy to drink. Really malty. Huge bitter aftertaste and it lingers too. Great beer.

For Toppling Goliath: For the Xhops beers is everything constant (water, malts, hop quantities, timing, temps, etc..) other than the hops themselves?

I was really surprised how long the bitterness lingered too.

Yah at a 2 bottle limit of each that's two people walking in the door. I wouldn't risk it either. They had quite a bit yesterday. If I had to guess about 4 cases of each or more but that's a guess and I got there around 3PM or somewhere around there and my understanding is they got their delivery around 12:30PM or so.

How do they compare? I got a bottle of the green waiting for me, but apparently the red sold out everywhere in La Crosse in one day when I was out of town. Figures.......

Both are good, but I think Red is much better than Green. Though green is very unique and has flavors I've not experienced in many IPAs. Red is tropical fruit and dank bitterness.

Yeah! I was just sitting at home, waiting for an update, called the store, and BAM! it is gone. Wah waaah. Still managed to get my bottles, but that was a bummer. I like giving him my business; I am sure he enjoyed the purchases from everyone else today just as much.

From our tasting last night, we decided Red tasted more like an IPA and Green is more of a true Pale. A lot of the malt build comes through in the Green and I think a lot of that has to do with the nature of the hop used.

I got very little malt presence in either. Maybe slightly more malty sweetness in Green, but to me, both showcased the hops through and through. There was a bit of breadiness I could contribute to the malts in Green to, but mostly I got herbaceous/green and grassy notes like cilantro and parsley. Both were fairly bitter on the finish.

I just picked up 2 bottles of the red and green at Woodmans today.

Picked up one of each and drank them both tonight!

Green was reminiscent of Sue, milder and less citrusy, but similarly minty and dank. Almost like a Citra/Centennial mix or something along those lines.

Red reminded me more of Zeelander - very complex, citrusy taste. Like a Nelson Sauvin variant or something.

I enjoyed Red more, but then again I like Zeelander more than PseudoSue.

Well thanks for taking two, that's probably why they were sold out by 6:00.

I called everywhere and they all told me they were sold out. I got the last green at Festival Onalaska.

Thanks, this makes me feel better about missing out on the Red. Zeelander is one of my least favorite TG IPA's. I also didn't really like the RedIPA from TownHall Brewery that used Nelson Sauvign hops, maybe I just don't like that hop.

There was three cases around 3. If you want to do a little beer tasting, I will split a red. Just let me know.

I'll agree on bready for Green. I think the Red hops are showcased much better than Green. That's not a slight to TG, I just think the Red hops attribute to a bolder flavor profile. I've done many trades that brought me Treehouse brews and whatever hop they used in Red is one that Treehouse uses in their IPAs. Their Curiosity 5 was like Red on super steroids.

Just cracked open a Green. First, I feel these XHops beers will be based off Sue, how they are brewed and showcasing a single hop. Green reminds me of Rampant from New Belgium. Now I know Rampant is a IIPA, but the hops they used are very similar in character. XHops Green is more of a mellow Rampant, if Rampant was a pale ale.

Pretty sure that is exactly what these are. Same beer, just a different hop. I could be wrong as I'm sure there are some variations but same basic build.

Also, if anyone in Des Moines missed out, shoot me a PM, I've got some to share.

We appreciate the support! Always striving to do our best and please all, we are still very small in production capability. We are going to make close to 2500 bbls this year. That is not a lot of But so we try to send the beer out as fair as we can. Hope we can continue to please you, and we will grow as we fast as we can.
We love Treehouse just like you, but remember that all colors of XHOPS, including Red, have been made with unreleased for production experimental hop varieties! Dig it man!!

Please remember that each color of XHOPS may be a one and done. All experimental hops. Cheers!

    TG:

Are the beers essentially the same with different hops, or are there other differences as well between each?
