Anyone heard any info on this? I heard this weekend there are plans in the works to take over the Thrift shop next door.

Covert 1/2 the new space to cold storage and install another 100 taps.

    Who'd you hear this from?

Sort of amusing, given the reaction of the thrift store owner to the line outside Toronado when they did the Valentine's Day Pliny the Younger tapping at 10 AM.

I didn't see that reaction but did see them complain when the Zwanze line went past their entrance instead of the other direction.

He seemed pretty amused by the whole thing, sort of a "wow - all these people here this early for a beer" type of reaction.

Let me know when the thrift shop is closed for business. AKA: I'll believe it when I see it.

I heard that the H&R Block right next door is going out of business on April 16th.

I have heard this all before. Believe it when I see it. I would love this to happen though.

It is closing the day after the book store next to Alpine's pub.

I would much rather Toronado stay the same size than that thrift store leave. That place is invaluable to the community. However, if they're relocating...

Why is everyone stoked on this...? More taps isn't always a good thing. I've never been there at a time when it wasn't reasonably easy to grab a seat somewhere. And standing isn't the worst thing in the world by any means...

If you've always been able to grab a seat that means you don't go to Toronado enough!

Don't want / need more taps. Just want a fucking place to sit on a Saturday night...

Precisely. If they want to add more taps, add 10 more, anything more than 60 taps and you begin to get into territory where you risk not turning over inventory fast enough (try going to a Yard House and ordering something like a Boddington's...not that it's an exciting beer fresh, but unintentional aging does it no favors). Leave the bar mostly as-is, add more tables and if the thrift-store has space in back, a non-smoking patio.
