    was not in 14'
but they may now have some beer
    within paper bag

You should know that beer coolness is an inverse of inclusiveness!

I saw someone check in some 2014 CC on Untappd last night at Toronado SF. No clue how much it cost.

Coulda swear I saw NewSchool or SamuriArtist tout Cable Car '14 on twitter for SFBeer week in the last few days but I might be wrong. (Was at least some form of CC. Or maybe it was rubbing in lack of CC or +CC... honestly it's not worth it to me to go back to check. Am not so good at twitter.)

Look, I like Apex okay and obviously "coolness" is hard to quantify. I just feel that SF Toronado's location, atmosphere, interior, clientele, history and overall vibe is superior and I'd rather drink a beer there. Apex may have more on tap, but the selection is about the same to me as well as the service. I like that you can actually sit at the bar at Toronado as Apex is a little more awkward and I'm not that interested in crowding into a picnic table which is often the case. I really don't even bother to go to Apex when it's nice out. It's just my personal preference and understand if y'all disagree. They're both great places to get a beer.

Now that I think about it, I'd much rather go across the street to drink a beer at Mongers than at Apex. Different kind of spot, but similar atmosphere/vibe to Toronado. What can I say, I'd rather drink in a dark indoor spot with a few regulars instead of some hip, modern place with garage doors and cram into some picnic tables next to a bunch of yuppies. Just my preference. And yes, I know Mongers has a garage door too, but it's not the same.

Toronado is so over-traveled, that I'm just not buying it isn't full of yuppies and tourists at basically all times. Garages are for yuppies? I guess this also makes Zeitgeist a yuppie hangout since they have picnic tables? I've seen some pretty ridiculous things at that place...

Personally I loved drinking at both on the same night.

Yuppies and tourists = bad. Tattooed, bearded, brewery logo hoodie and stocking cap-wearing, and smug hipsters = A-OK.

I'll admit, I've only been to Toronado 4 or 5 times over the course of the last 5 years when I've been in the Bay area. I'm sure they get their fair share of yuppies, Zeitgeist too, but in my limited experience that has not been the case and certainly not to the degree that Apex gets on any given day. I try not to focus too much on the clientele as there's really no escaping that anywhere in Portland these days. They're all great spots for beer. Personally though, I've always felt more comfortable at Toronado and Mongers than at Apex and would much rather hang out at either of those. That patio is ridiculous and just not my thing and the overall vibe is just kind of cold and sterile to me. That said, I'll still probably end up there many times this year as I have in the past.

Toronado Seattle will get Cable Car. I will keep y'all posted as to when. Tuesday they are putting on The Hop Concept Dank and Sticky plus like ten triple IPA's.
