Did someone link to the Apex tap list? Seem very similar in both selection and price point. Also very surprised that Toronado tap list on opening day looks about as good as Apex is every day.

It definitely seemed like a rush job to get the place opened, and good for them for doing it so quickly with relatively high quality! The tap list was solid, but nothing spectacular - seemed like whatever distributors happened to have available. I don't think that'll be the case as they have more time to seek out more limited kegs.

The mac and cheese was delicious.

No whales, but let's be realistic here. You can't always have whales. I enjoyed my time there and will be back. A lot. Gotta love that walkability.

    Dang. I'll be in Michigan.

Well, you won't miss it then, will you? You'll be in the "Best Beer region" in America, after all.

That doesn't mean we've lost perspective; it means the perspective in Seattle and Portland is different.

No business will succeed by saying "hey, just think how good this would be if you were in Des Moines!" ;-)

Prices may be different in WA, but in Oregon kegs of Maui Coconut costs ~25% more per ounce than Easy Jack, Wunderbier, and the other $5 pints, so I could see it being $1 more.

Single cans in the store are about $1.50, and it sells for $3 a can over the bar. I think I remember it being on tap once at +/- $5 a pint. It wouldn't be a $6 pint for me.

    Yeah? No shit.

Knowing Bonney, he probably spent more time on the bourbon and tequila lists than the beer lists. Also, I bet Bonney purposely put up a "weak" beer taplist to keep the bearded, brewery-logo-hoodie-and-stocking-cap-in-80-degree-weather-wearing, no-girlfriend-in-sight, 20-something beer nerds, who annoyingly pepper the very busy bartender on opening day with beer release rumors and highlights of their beercations to Belgium, at bay. That would be just like him.

Not sure I get the "no shit" comment ... first you say we lost perspective than say "no shit" when I say the perspective is different?

I guess that kind of ironic anger towards your patrons and potential patrons would be ... "cool."

Well, if they use they same hiring criteria as Brouwers, they bartenders will be busy ignoring folks. But, I might be biased.

I've read this critique of yours multiple times and I have no doubt in your perspective. But, I've never had a problem with getting bartenders' attention at Brouwers. But then again, my wife is totally hot and never seems to lack for attention.

Again, just for clarity, the table service I've had at Brouwers has always been top notch. And, half the time the bar service has been good-to-great. But, that other half, damn.

In all fairness to Bonney, that "ironic anger towards [my fellow] patrons and potential patrons" is all mine.

I won't judge the place harshly on it's first night open. All I know is that I'm pumped live super close to a place with 40 taps run by beer nerds.

One thing I found surprising, though, is that MH owner must have just sold everything in the building as is....all the tables and TVs are even the same as they were in MH. It's like bizarro Mutiny Hall in there right now with a few stickers slapped on the air vents, but hey, I'll take it. Character doesn't happen over night.

I vote for this to be the new BeerAdvocate slogan. (I suspect there will not be many takers.)

Yup. Latona, Burgundian and Toronado in close distance to me (with Uber and Bottleworks really not all that far, either) is very nice.

I overheard the barteneder mention they'd be opening a couple months from now if they started from scratch.

The harsh truth of reality is hard for some to deal with.

Strange, 4 packs are $9-10 on this side of the river.

I've been to toronado sf many times - not once was the taplist better than what's linked above. Let's get a grip.
