Heading up to Toronto tomorrow and would like to scope out the beer scene and buy some bottles. The LCBO seem to be the only places to buy bottles. Is this correct? Are there any "bottle shop" type places in Toronto that would be compared to the American counterpart? Also, looking for 3 beer bars to hit.

    Prosit!

Also, wouldn't mind bringing along some beer if anyone wants to do an in-person trade.

You should go to Bellwoods Brewery. They sell bottles of their own stuff, and it's damn good.

I second that emotion. Not sure if they still have 3 Minutes to Midnight but I HIGHLY recommend it.

Otherwise you can get some growler fills at Indie Ale House or Mill St.

    I will third this.

If you are looking for the best 3 bars (after Bellwoods), your choices:
    1. Bar Hop
    2. Volo (be warned that getting a seat here is challenging, esp on a Saturday)
    3. WVRST

If you are up for a little traveling from the downtown core, The Only is great too.

Bellwoods had 3 Minutes to Midnight on Wednesday. Haven't tried it yet, was Hellwoods on tap.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that posted. My girlfriend and I had a great trip and wish we had more time. We ended up going to Bar Volo and Beer Bistro. When we get back, we definitely want to check out Bellwood and Nickel Brook. Nickel Brook Bolshevik Bastard was quite tasty. Oh...and I am so thankful for the way they States do alcohol. Beer Store and LCBO are about the sorriest state of beer I've ever seen. My condolences.
