hi all, I’m traveling to Toronto from Rochester ny for a phish show at Budweiser stage and am looking for some tips in terms of beer, food and lodging location. I’m hoping to stay somewhere close (potentially walking or easy Uber/transit to bus stage, but also close to some great beer and food. Any reasonably priced hotels you would recommend? I’m looking at some Airbnb’s near trinity Bellwood’s district, queen st nearby and on York st near lakeshore blvd closer to the stage. Is Uber or public transit towards Budweiser stage easy? What are the must hit breweries or beer bars (I’ve been told halo, Bellwood’s, left field, and Godspeed are good). Any spots with great beer and food? Thanks!
All 4 places you mentioned are great. Bellwoods and Halo arent too far apart, but Left Field & Godspeed are in the East End, walking distance together along with Rorschach. Hotels are going to be fairly high downtown. cheaper the further you go east or west. Transit is okay....but just okay. Transit can fairly easily get you to close to Bud Stage (Ontario Place). Lots of Uber/Lyft action. Other than those 4, I would suggest Blood Brothers, Burdock, Folly and Indie Alehouse in the Bellwoods (sort of) area. Bellwoods has some food, Halo & Blood Brothers dont unless there is a popup or truck. Indie Alehouse has amazing food (have the fried chicken). Personally, I love LF and Godspeed, but I am an east ender and they are my locals. LF is an awesome baseball themed place with great IPAs & sours. Godspeed is an awesome Japanese-themed place with great small plate food and unique beer. If you head east, check out BarHop and The Only. Great taplists at both and good food at BarHop. Don't be tempted by Eastbound's Instagram. The food is mediocre and the beer even less so. Saulter is a fun place as is Radical Road. Both on the way to Godspeed/LF from downtown.
1. Bellwoods 2. Godspeed 3. Burdock All three have excellent beers and food. If you're looking for an interesting taproom experience, don't sleep on Blood Brothers or Left Field. They're just really nice places to have a beer (or two). Enjoy!
This is pretty much spot on. Bellwoods for everything they make (IPAs, NEIPAs, Milkshake IPAs, sours, stouts). Godspeed for everything they make (classic lagers, smoked beers, Japanese inspired fruit beers) Burdock for their wine/beer hybrids As @giantshrug says, both Blood Brothers and Left Field are great spots with generally solid beer. I’d even add Muddy York to that list, though perhaps a small step down. Bar Hop is the beat beer bar to hit when downtown. The King and Peter locations are probably best for you geography wise. Good local lists with good bartenders who will now their stuff. If you had more time I’d add Rainhard to the list as well. Uber and Lyft are easy in Toronto. Buses and subways are fine for the downtown core.
Nobody have any love for Birrieria Volo anymore? Close the the area you were mentioning of looking for an Air BnB. They have the best selection of lambics in Ontario and have a great food place next door, PJ Clucks, if you like chicken.
Just returned from Toronto and enjoyed Bellwoods, Burdock and Halo. Burdock does half off bottles on Mondays and Bar hop was a good spot with 36 drafts and half off bottles on Tuesdays. Half off Hill Farmstead bottles! Excellent outdoor drinking options at Bellwoods, Burdock and Bar hop. Awesome city and can't wait to return!
