Very well. I will close by adding the following:

    • FWIW the Ft Myers store doesn't have a classroom, so there are no beer (or wine) classes offered in that store anyway. (There are in Naples).

    • As for knowing more than the "teacher", it stands to reason that quite a few of our class attendees across the country are beer geeks who fall into that category (the certification this year of 750+ store Team Members as Cicerone CBS notwithstanding. Beer knowledge was a recognized area of opportunity that's being addressed head on).

    • As one who knows a lot about beer myself, I think knowing "more" is actually something that can help one to appreciate the featured beers even more than un-knowledgeable "newbies" are able to understand and appreciate what they are tasting/experiencing.

    • Also, I would imagine you have been on brewery tours where, indeed, you were more knowledgable about beer than the tour leader. I bet there were still a few nuggets of new info that were gleaned, and the tour and tasting was enjoyable nonetheless. While not the same exact thing, some corollaries can be drawn here.

    • And I'll add one last perspective for beer geeks which is to consider the value proposition of getting a 13 beer sampler flight for a flat $15 ($1.15 per beer to sample 13 beers), and walking out with beer discount coupons valued at up to $28. That's a pretty good value for sampling some beers on a Thursday evening, especially if a beer shopping trip is planned around it.

PS: One need not purchase 12 bottles at a time to use the coupon.

Cheers and thanks for your input and business.

    Rob

    Good points there. In response,
1: I would consider some sort of marketable way to inform the target audience that you're not just a wine store. (Hence the adding of ...."and more" in your signage). I frequent your stores a bit all over the state, And I can tell you firsthand that none of the stores appear to have a knowledgable staff when it comes to beer. (Wine yes---and I always seek advice there). While it's understandable that you're addressing the issue I believe there should be some sort of message there to inform the customers at the store level.

2: you can probably bet that some of these beer geeks know more about beer than the tour guide. But do they know more about the brewery itself? That should be the main focus of the guide (IMO). If the guide lacks the basic history and knowledge of the brewery then shame on the brewery.

Lastly, where is this bomber coupon? I always use coupons there and am always informed they are only for 4-packs or 6-packs only.

    Cheers ~~~~ jp

If the cashier allows, tell them you forgot your coupon at home, and the code is 5790. Youre welcome. Good through 11/30.

Hey theres one store thats getting it together. Kevin, Choung, and I are working our damndest to make the store the best we can. Were limited a bit by corporate, but we do our best. I keep the cooler selection rotated and fresh. I rotate stock as often as Im there (same goes for others), and always advocate local. The biggie is that I try to set back some of the allocated beers for people a few days. Its totally against policy, but its important. Not everyone can get to the store at noon on a Tuesday, so I hold it back a bit. We are definitely a wine first store, but our beer section at the Durham, NC section can hold its own.

I didn't get on in my email box this time, but there is a $1 off 4-pack or 6-pack over $6.99 out there that is valid until tomorrow (12-13-13). The online code is 4377. It's on the last page of the paper flyer in the stores and I got one in my physical mailbox at home this week.

nope. Every single wine and beer coupon doesnt work because were running the 12 days of christmas wine special. A few beers just dropped in price (Rogue Santa's Private Reserve 22 and 6 pack, LoneRider True Britt $4/6 pack, and a few gift packs dropped a few bucks).

Yeah, but it's only good through this weekend.
They used to be good for at least two weekends.
Still not much love. If there is, I can't feel it!

Sadly, youll never see discounts or sales on beers. The profit margin isnt high enough to cover the discount on the beer. We can afford to run sales on wines because the margin is greater. The dollar off packs still covers the profit margin.

Some of the Fall and Winter seasonals are already marked down at Total Wine. I picked a couple of Belgian Christmas Ales in 750 mL bottles for only $3.99 each. Haven't sampled them yet but I'm sure they're still great.

To me (no disrespect Tim) every F'ing Total Wine store is light years different. For an Example : In Greensboro the High Point Road location will discount out of season brewz @ $3.99 - $8.99 per. If you drive 6 miles up the road to Battleground you are lucky if the same brews are discounted $1.00 @ most. Also, I had the pleasure to visit Total Wine in Melbourne, Florida during the holidays and they had The Bruery Autumn Maple @ $3.99 each as well as Belgian Christmas Ales in 750 mL bottles for $3.99 each. How each store is run is beyond my comprehension and to be honest I could give a roman rabbits azz. It just appears to me to be to disjointed. That on this cold ass humpday is my 2 centavos. Prost'

Which High Seas? I've been giving Citras as extras in trades and people are loving it. The best hoppy beer CC has done, IMO.
