Because they do traditional continental lager styles really well. I mean, that pilsner is pure quality. I enjoy the dunkel both as a drink and as an ingredient in the kitchen. Their vienna is good as well. All their beers have a nicely developed malt profile, and their pilsner backs that up with a firm and spicy bitterness and gorgeous floral aroma.

I read through the reviews for the pils, and I see a recurring theme - "This is as good as any of the classics," but people don't rate it highly because it's just a simple pilsner. At the same time, people will heap praises to high heaven on Smashbomb and Mad Tom - both of which are just another IPA.

Good beer is good beer, regardless of what style it's made in. And King put out, IMO, some damn good beer.

Short version; I should know by now that lager, especially the pale varieties, get no respect around this forum anyways.

Agreed on the Pilsner theme. Not related my heart skips a beat every time I see Victory's Prima Pils on tap.

See, I'm more partial to malt then Hops, so that takes out Flying Monkeys as Hoptical Illusion and Netherworld push my hop limits, so I can't imagine enjoying Smashbomb. As far as Beau's I haven't had enough Beau's for me to honestly say it would be one of my recommendation. About the only one in Hamilton that has shown up is the Lugtread.

Well, for one I've never had anything from King, which apart from appearing in OCB Discovery Pack #8 has a limited LCBO footprint and I haven't gotten around to picking up a six pack at the Beer Store. They really should push to be in the next OCB mix pack though.

Yeah the lugtread is definitely not enough to give you a good perspective of the brewery although most of their beers aren't too complex, they have a nice taste and are extremely easy drinking.

I think a lot of breweries from ontario though are old fashioned. Meaning they don't push themselves to new things and brew what's safe. Quebec has some good stuff but sucks ipa wise. All in all I think bc takes it away. (imo)
