Going to CO in October and need suggestions on which breweries to hit. I'll be going to some of the biggies like Great Divide. Will be in Denver a few days and then up towards Boulder.

    Good brewpub suggestions appreciated too.

    Thanks.

    Howdy,

Of the list below, only Vine Street (Denver) and Mountain Sun (Boulder) are brewpubs and both of those are branches of the Mountain Sun Brewing Company. The rest of the joints listed below are beer bars.

Definitely do Odell and Funkwerks. Both on the same street just a few block apart.

New Belgium is another stop for their tour. If you are solo or two you stand a good chance of being allowed in if you go stand by (the earlier in the day the better), if a larger go to their site and sign up for it. They takes reservations 2 weeks in advance and it fills up so don't slack.

Equinox is also a cool spot to hit up. I would check them out after an Odell/Funkwerks run though, not before. Prioritize.

People like Fort Collins Brewery, in between Odell and Funkwerks, and that place is always busy (they also have a tavern on premises) so that could be worth a visit. For me, I have yet to be won over by them though.

For you food fix, I'd hit up Choice City Butchery. Good food, good beer all taken care of in one sitting. Tap N Handle and Mayor of Old Town are the best beer bars in town and both serve food (though I have not eaten at either).

Coopersmith is a pub and brewery in Old Town too. Given time constraints, I'd pass on that though. I wasn't all that impressed the one time I was there. Its not bad....just kind of meh, and the other places are all more appealing, IMO. If you had more time it would then be worth a visit, just not when you have a short window.
