Have any of you tried Towne Park Brewery? I’ve been there a few times and I thought that the beer itself was not great. I had their Sheriff which was a DIPA and I found no hops nor was there any bitterness. It was actually pretty sweet. You combine that with a price tag of 8 bucks per glass and it didn’t sit well. I love the location, love the vibe, the owner is cool but I just wanted to know what was everyone’s else feelings/opinions on it.
Interesting feedback, I'll have to check it out. I have been curious about reviews for the beers from brewery that out the gate became the 3rd largest production brewery in the county.
I’d like to hear what you guys have to say. When you compare this with what what the top notch breweries are producing down here, there beers have been subpar. As far as being the 3rd biggest production brewery, that comes as no surprise due to the location. The building is huge and either there are big time investors or the owner has big pockets. They were awarded the Mayor Cup in the city of Anaheim a week before they open for an incity event but none of the top notch breweries (I.e Noble, Bruery, Bottlelogic) were there. I’m just surprise that no one here is talking about them since there opening night was packed. There had to be at least 70ish people there an hour after opening and a lot more people showed up thereafter.
I live down the street from Towne, and yes it has been packed, but I bet 80% of the people that were there, have no idea what Beeradvocate is. I think they are going after a certain market, and I don't think the "craft beer enthusiast" is who it is. Smells like a future sell out with the mass amount of beers being produced, canned and kegged already. I think most of us prefer small batch quality beers, instead of large production mediocre beers. But just my .02. (also seems like craft_drinks might be a employee, since he has only been an active member since TUESDAY)
Haven't gone yet. I am planning to visit this place sooner than later. Hopefully before they get bought out buy big corp. It sounds like they went big is to attract potential buyers/investors. This is just my opinion. So don't jump all over me. When Golden Road opened up they opened big. I had no idea they'd be bought out soon after. This seems like the trend these days. Again, my opinion.
Dude does not seem passionate about beer at all. Seems to only be interested in the money it can make him.
That would be interesting considering he says their beers are subpar/average/not that great. But I suppose that could get some people to go and get their own opinion.
Lol I do not work there at all. I live in Anaheim, have the pleasure of trying different breweries within a 15 minute drive. Yes, I’ve been “active” since Tuesday but that’s because I finally decided to actually participate in these discussions. I’m glnna be at bottlelogic tomorrow and we can meet there and I’ll buy you a beer :-)
By the way, my go to right now is Green Cheek! I’d be there tomorrow if it was open lol. Beer is great, prices are reasonable and the vibe is there.
Went on Sunday after a morning at the park with the kid. Overall the place has a pretty bland vibe to it, not a lot of character and very polished. Cold case filled with packaged beers to go. About 8 - 9 beers on the board in additional to a solid section of non beer beverages. First thing I noticed was the pint price, $8 GTFO. Their beers better be top shelf to demand that kind of price considering it's above most of the breweries in the county. Not wanting to "invest" in a pint I opted for a flight of 4 4oz pours, also for $8 - at least their per once pricing is consistent, Blond, Lager, IPA and Sheriff (DIPA and the only named beer if I recall correctly). The beers were all very "to style" beers similar to the stuff Anaheim puts out. I personally felt all could use some more refinement and are not priced well for what you are getting. The IPAs in particular were very mid 2000s level IPAs in terms of maltiness and hop character. One of my buddies is on the brewing team so I'm sure I'll be giving them another go in a month or so. Not bad, not great.
