I'm involved in a trade and the communication hasn't been great, looking for some advice. Here's a quick summary: 2/4: Trade agreed upon, both agree to ship by 2/6. 2/6: I ship 2/9: He messages me with a tracking number and says he got too busy but will be dropping off at Fedex. 2/10: My shipment arrives to him. 2/12: His tracker reflects that the package has not been dropped off yet. I ask for an update but no response. 2/16: I ask for an update and still no response. 2/17: I text him for an update and no response. I'm going out of town for the next week and I want to make sure someone can bring the box inside if it does in fact get shipped soon, any ideas? The member does not have any trade history and states he has not been trading for a while, however he has been a member since 2011 and did offer to ship first. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and didn't require him to ship first, I know my own fault.
Is he still active on the site? If not, I would probably call him out by the end of this week if you don't hear anything.
Really hate when people can't respond but have time to peruse the site. I mean by Friday it will be two full weeks since he was supposed to ship. Some people would say its too soon to call someone out, but you might be sparing others if you call him out sooner rather than later...
Since he's reading your messages, I'd message him again and let him know that you started a thread to seek advice, and maybe mention to him that it'd be great to get an update so that his reputation doesn't get destroyed.
I would definitely point him to this thread. It seems these threads have a strange way of getting people to respond. And also, I guess a lesson learned OP. With how many "bad trader" threads that get started on here, there is no way I would personally ship first with someone who has zero recorded trades. Hopefully you'll draw a response out of him, if not, put him on blast. Reading your messages and not responding is one of the laziest, dick-like things you can probably do to someone you're in the midst of a trade with.
Send him a link of this thread. Let him know there will soon be blood in the water. Right now, he can still recover. If not, soon his already limited rep will be ruined.
It appears that his been resolved with a commitment to ship today via text. He said he replied to my message on BA through his phone but it didn't go through. I'll chalk it up to a learning experience and hopefully everything resolves without a hitch, I'll update if otherwise.
This guy is taking you for a ride, you should have this thread moved to the bad trader forum and out him. Two weeks of radio silence while he still goes on this site is shifty as fuck.
Not completely directed at the OP but if someone has zero trades and offers to send first, or even if they don't offer, make them! There are so many 'poor communication' 'bad trader?' 'did I get screwed' threads that are usually created because someone traded with someone without any trading experience. Everyone was a new trader at some point and if that person really wants to trade they will go out of their way to ship first and communicate properly. If someone can't do that then perhaps trading isn't for them.
I totally agree. Having so many great experiences on the site brings a little naivete that everyone out there treats people the way you do. It only take's one issue like this to make you remember that there are trade ratings and feedback for a reason.
Package was shipped two days later than agreed via text but eventually arrived with extras. I hate leaving negative feedback in any scenario, I was thinking positive feedback with some notes on the issues. What do you guys think?
Ten days late is not cool, nor is having to hound someone for a package that they've already "dropped off" but I don't believe it warrants negative feedback. OK or good with an explanation is what it would be in my mind. I might lean towards "OK" because in the past, tardy and/or shifty behavior has often been followed up with the trader turning bad. So future traders ought to know.
Just be specific about the issues, and be fair. If the extras were good, or packaging was done right, mention that too. Radio silence + shipping delay warrants going from good to ok but as others have said definitely not bad. Nothing too wrong with growing pains from a new trader as long as they learn from it.
We need a bad trader's list with addresses to cross-reference or something more or less permanent. Anyone can just change their username if they get a bad review.
Have you left appropriate feedback for this particular trade partner? I can't seem to find a member in your recent trade history that reflects the info listed above.
