Setup a trade. Checked the bad trader list to make sure he wasn't on there. He wasn't on there...yet. Sent him a huge box of Jester King sours and other TX locals worth approximately ~$85-100. Last I heard from him was last week Thursday when he said he was packing my side of the trade with the box I'd sent him. I've texted him yesterday asking for confirmation of shipping or a tracking # and got nothing yet. Do I have any real recourse other than report him once again as a bad trader? I might try calling him and sending a BM before that, but all signs now lead me to believe I'll be ignored while he drinks my beer.

Edit: Just looking for any general advice as I've done about 15 trades between BA and Reddit, and haven't dealt with this before.

Considering it was only five days ago and you haven't called him or "threatened" him yet, I think this might be a little too soon to call him out as a bad trader. Don't get me wrong, bad communication is inexcusable, but you should try other options (call/text him, threaten to out him on BA, etc) before calling him out.

Did you already report him? Or was he reported by someone else between the time you agreed to the trade and the time you started getting suspicious?

He was reported by 2 other BA's for not shipping when he lost in a special BIF this year. I've only once had a trader lack this much communication and promptness, but it was resolved. However, I still have no reasonable indication that he has shipped my box.

I've not reported him just yet. Was thinking of BM'ing him with this thread to know if he won't ship, then hopefully he'll be banned from trading. At least under that name he's using.

I did text him yesterday with no response yet.

Then the next step is to call him. Repeatedly if necessary. Leave him voicemails saying that you need tracking information or else you'll have to out him as a bad trader.

Oh, well in that case.... :slight_frown:

I guess the OP's only hope then is to bug the living shit out of him.

5 days really and already getting the bonfire ready? maybe something happened and he's got some thing more important than a beer to worry about? who knows..... I'd say give him another week or something man geez.

I recently did a trade with a guy in his box showed up just before I left for hunaphu day...... thank god he's not burning me at the stake.

or the trade I recently did the showed up Friday while I was in Florida at the pegs tasting...... he could be building a bonfire too...

bottom line upon the day or 2 off on shipping or even 3 or 4 days I've never had anybody disappointed with the box
and there's always communication I always let my trade partner know what's going on as soon as i can sometimes it may be a couple days with no communication. family and health is more important than a beer. If its a regular stand up guy it should be fine
just calm down and give it a little more time.

if your out of beer go to your local bottleshop and grab a few or Damn i could send you something.....

To many bad trader threads lately and people jumping the gun.....
at my work place we have quite a few people out with the flu right now.

disclaimer I do not know either trader involved with this trade either. I am just sayin

The thing is, we had both agreed to ship 3/4/2013. I shipped that day. He did not. He claimed he was busy, or his shop was out of a beer he had agreed to send me. So really it's hard to say "it's only been 5 days", when he really should have been ready to ship 8 days ago. That being said, I understand a day or two late, sure. It's happened to me before when I promised to ship out and just for whatever reason, I couldn't make it, but I always let my trading partner know ahead of time.

I apologize for not giving the story in its entirety. I'm here at work accessing the computer intermittently when I'm not busy.

    ummm...

This is a different scenario. Guy has been reported by two others after OP sent his box. I don't think this is a case of overreaction, but rather him seeking advice on how to handle this SPECIFIC situation.

In my most recent trade, we both agreed to send a picture of the beer that was promised before either of us shipped. This avoids the issue of trading something that you don't actually have in-hand.

He did send me a picture Thursday night, but I haven't heard a peep from him since. Again, I'm just fairly unnerved after noticing he was added to the bad trader list right before I shipped. Guess I'll start double checking that even before I ship now.

I think their needs to be a rule that you MUST name the user when posting a bad trader thread.

Im not sick very often, but when I am out with the flu I usually cozy up in my flannel PJs and watch TV on the couch while eating mass amounts of Ramen. I dont think it would be too far fetched to take 5 minutes from that busy schedule to sign on BA and send a BM. If anything, being home sick usually leaves you less busy then when you are actually at work.

no prob. I just didn't want clonies to be made to feel he is overreacting when this is a guy who's been discussed by two other BAs recently as a possible bad trader.
