@MNBeerGeek Though I'm generally well behaved (online at least), & a decent critical thinker, philosophically I'm a scant millimetre from anarchy. I'd be a terrible mod. Wurster than the wurst.

@Dolomitey Only Josholson666 & surlytheduff know what transpired. Surlytheduff has so far opted not to participate in this thread, hence we have only Josh's statements to go by. Nothing I've read or seen here, including Mike's/surly's absence from the thread, indicates Josh's info is inaccurate. Given that there is no reason to doubt him.

Notably, Josh hasn't cast aspersions on anyone's character. Nor has he given people reasons to call his into question.

He acknowledged that people might think he was posting this too soon. Some feel he was. Others don't. Regardless, it's headed for a rapid & happy conclusion, which is something we'd all like to see more often.

He said he would ship on Monday. I said I would ship on Wednesday. That is as clear as I can be. It is currently being resolved without any hot temper or ill feelings.

Thanks for replying. For the record, the comment that you "hadn't heard anything in 6 days" really made me question the veracity of your OP, given that the box was 3.5 days late at most when this thread got posted. Couldn't help but wonder why you wanted to push the reader towards thinking that 6 days was a relevant time frame. Glad it worked out for both of you.

Exactly, 3.5 days is WAY WAY WAY too soon to post a bad trader thread.

No one has mentioned you should NEVER trade without a phone number. That is the most important thing I get out of this. If OP had the phone number his trade partner might have responded to a text right away and this thread wouldn't be necessary at all. Should he have updated and said he was lately shipping? Absolutely. But sometimes shit happens and you just don't get to it. I still think this thread was posted a bit early. But whatever. The results are what matters.

Boy, this is one of 'agree to disagree' things, because 2010 Abyss is one of the finest beers I've tasted. Worth all four BCBS, IMO. But then, that's why beer trading is so much fun!

I like that both you and @JavaNoire are basing your opinions on the taste of the beers in question instead of their future trade value on the crazy beer trade market! OP sounds like he had every right to post here and all is well that ends well. Cheers!

Get a phone number and an email, definitely.

And if your trade partner is 3 days late shipping, put them on fucking blast! Ain't nobody got time for shipping Wednesday when you said you'd ship Monday. Or at least that's what I got out of this.

I'll assume this is another jab at me (quite the definition of "Minnesota Nice," if I do say so myself)...

Let me just say again that this thread resulted in an almost immediate response from Mike, which is what was intended.

Let me clarify, as apparently I have not done a good job doing so. My issue WAS (I say was, because again, this is currently being resolved in part because of this thread) not with the delay in shipping. Of course, as I said in a previous post, shit happens and I understand that fully. My worry came from not receiving a message from 12/3 (Thursday, the day of the trade agreement and shipping info exchange) to Friday 12/11. If you don't think that's a fair amount of time, that's fine. There are no set guidelines in terms of time frames for BT posts, but again, I'd like to point out that this resulted in a BA message 20 or so minutes after the post, which was the goal.

Cheers to everyone involved, and I really don't think any more needs to be said until I either receive my package or not, which I will (because of this thread ).

Indeed. That beer and Life Is Like were the best beers at my tasting group's Stout Night last year. And we did a 7 year vertical of BCBS that night too.

So glad to see this situation worked out. Despite comments that OP may have posted too quickly, the easy resolution after posting speaks for itself.

Several layers here I guess. On the one hand, it would probably take quite a bit more for me to start a "Bad Trader" thread...I like many on BA have suffered lots of ridiculous delays as well as "dude...my brother-in-law broke/drank/stole that bottle I was going to send you" type of hilarious and pathetic excuses.

On the other, I understand why the OP jumped the gun. Because it may have actually been warranted! BA is changing rapidly with new traders who only want to win and don't seem to give a shit about the community overall - and certainly not the generous spirit of "sharing the love" that I find so appealing from most of the great traders on this site. Also, I have little patience with breakdowns in communication after things have been agreed to and a trade request is in place. It takes literally two seconds to send a message explaining a delay in shipping or something else.

If I were to give any advice--and I'm certainly no expert--I might say that if you've got fewer than 10 trades under your belt you might want to stick to trading with more established traders with great "reputations", consistent paper trails of great trades, and longtime BA membership. That way, you build a network of good people and can't help but develop a "feel" of how a trade and everything it involves should go, even before it happens. Some of my best trades are the ones I never made because it didn't feel right.

Glad it sounds like things are working out!

I really appreciate your input here 4truth. I totally understand the reasons one would want to stick with experienced traders, but for me I typically don't have the beer that someone with 50 plus trades is usually looking for. Certainly not always the case, but it seems to be a trend. I do think it would be a worthwhile and practical policy though, absolutely!

I don't know about her credentials to be a Mod, but I would think if Judge Judy ever retires @JavaNoire should be the 1st in line to replace her. Given the salary difference between being a Mod and America's leading judge, I am guessing that is a job offer she would not turn down so easily.
