It sounds like a bad deal and you should not take less then what you traded for? I have seen another beer trade post that bottle was said to be flat and the person receiving did not want to send what was agreed upon after already delaying trade. Different scenario, but there is a risk when buying beer and trading. As long as someone is not purposely trying to send any flat, infected or refilled/rewaxed bottles, than should be what is agreed upon.

I hope this is not the case, but could be someone who read about flat or under carbonation and trying to get a better deal on his end of the trade. Reading the thread and saying you "recycled" the cans with out drinking seems impossible. He could try to re trade the remaining cans(or extra them).

Did he leave you feed back OP? @Raisingfable

@Raisingfable, shoot me a pm and i will send you some local assortment of florida goodies to make up for the stolen (yes in my mind, the beers you arent receiving are as good as stolen) beers your trade partner isnt sending you. this is not how someone's first trade who agreed to send 1st and has followed through appropriately needs to experience his first trade.

OP does have a trade/feedback with someone that received Abrasive from OP. They left positive feedback so I'd assume that they received good beer.

Interestingly, the other guy has some very recent bad feedback (not from the OP) about being pushy and trying to change a deal after it had already been shipped.

    Interesting.....

I'm going through with my Abrasive trades as regularly scheduled. If one of my trading partners gets a flat can I expect they'll let me know and I'll send a replacement four pack. @lonewolfcry has been plenty vocal about the issues but somehow I've yet to come across a bad can in six tries. I'll start hearing from trading partners this week when they start cracking cans so maybe my luck will run out.

Sucks for OP though. You'd think the trading partner would have let him replace the cans.

Sorry to read all of this OP. You should let @markgugs send you some beer...who knows maybe you two will become good trading partners.

Can we just get the trade recipients username posted in this thread already? There are clearly enough people (myself included) who feel things have been handled poorly and want to be aware of who the individual is. Seems the OP is at the very least being treated unfairly and at the worst, being straight taken advantage of.

OP should name the guy in this thread. At this point, if he is refusing to ship that is stolen beer. Risk is assumed on both ends of the deal with trading. A flat beer is a bummer, but not a reason to not ship.

Agreed, seems a way to take advantage of a new trader.

Interestingly, the user to which you are referring (the apparent trade partner) was viewing this thread when I checked his profile. No response in this thread though.

I don't like new traders being taken advantage of any more than the next guy, but before we get our pitchforks out, keep in mind we have not heard from the other trader in this situation yet. Keep in mind also that OP did agree to the proposal of reducing the amount of shipped beer. I agree that this is a bit of a dick move, but we don't know how that conversation went.

If there was resistance from OP and the other trader badgered him into it is very different than if he just suggested it as an idea and OP agreed willingly, before receiving feedback from the community that this isn't right. If we as a group approach this as a learning experience for both sides, rather than a reason to get on someone's back publicly for something that happened privately, I think there's a greater chance this will end amicably. If instead we jump down his throat with accusations of taking advantage and theft, I know I would be on the defensive, which is not a good place to start a discussion.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying the other trader is in the right, just that without having heard his side of the story, it's hard to say with certainty that he is in the wrong.

I sent the trade partner in question a private message about 25 minutes ago alerting him to this thread.

    Here is my exact message:

"In case you weren't aware, this thread has recently come up about a trade you were involved in. Your name hasn't been mentioned yet but you may want to post your side of the story.

    Cheers,
    Kyle

*EDIT: He has gotten back to me and it seems there are 2 sides to the story possibly. I suggested he contact a moderator in how to proceed. I'm going to bow out of this for now

How I think this needs to be handled is what's going on in the Abrasive thread in the Midwest forums. Guy said "hey I made a trade, got 3/4 flat bottles", but didn't want ANYTHING in return. Guy who sent saw this, claimed he was the guy, made sure packing etc was okay, and is now replacing the 4-pack since it was flat(without the receiver mentioning ANYTHING to him directly).

Just good BA etiquette on both ends there I think. In this case? Not so much.

Your post makes it sound like you find the actions of both sides to be less than ideal. When you say "didn't want ANYTHING in return" it appears you are implying that the OP is looking for something in return for his sending out replacement cans.

In this case, the OP came here asking should he replace the flat cans, not what he should get for doing so; most of the conversation since then has been about one of two things: whether he should or should not replace the cans, and why the other trader would short him in the INITIAL trade. We're not discussing beer being sent AFTER the original trade was completed, we're discussing completing the ORIGINAL trade as agreed upon, a VERY different scenario.
