I just completed my first trade today, everything went totally fine. Props to to dbyron22 for all the awesome brews! And it got me wondering about all the things that could have went wrong. And so I thought I would ask my fellow BA's, what we're your worst trade experiences? Lost packages? Broken goods? I wonder.

I'm not a prolific trader, I just don't have much here to trade except Lindley Park and Event Horizion and other Olde Hickory special releases. Only one broken bottle bit, cost me 6 BCBS and extras, I learned to pack better, and wrap the inside of the box in a plastic garbage bag. Every trader has been right on the money, no BS, great communication, everything just as we agreed. Read thru the bad trader stuff and be aware these kind of guys exist, but are by far a real minority, they just make a lot of waves. Do your homework especially if your dealing with beers that are not just shelf brews.

The fact that I'm still waiting for someone else's end of the trade from more than 3 months ago.....

-Finding out the UPS/FedEx people were not putting my packages in the apartment courtyard, rather launching them over the 10 foot wrought iron fence shotput style
-Driver refusing to deliver a box and instead routing it to the main pickup hub on Oregon Ave which is more disorganized and chaotic than the Philly DMV
-Having a box lost in the wrong distro center for a week and a half while my trading partner had to keep calling and harassing them to find it
-A box filled with brewery-only stuff lost in some apartment complex for 3 days bc someone forgot to include their apartment number

Moral of the story: City trading can be a total pain in the ass and now all my boxes go somewhere else instead

Put in in the trade forum and list him as a bad trader, at least save some other BA from dealing with this guy while ylu work it out, and you'll get help there. Hate to hear that.

I had a new trader that thought using fix-a-flat was a good way to pack bottles. He wrapped two Eclipse bottles in what looked like paper towel, but them in a shoe box, filled it with fix-a-flat and then ductaped the whole mess together. By the time the bottles arrived, the outer shell of fix-a-flat was cured, but not the closest to the bottles. The bottles didn't break but have permanent left over junk on them. It took about two hours of sawing at the box to get the bottles out of the nasty hard sticky cocoon, I do not recommend that as a packing style. :slight_frown:

I have a feeling this person rode the short bus as a kid. The lack of common sense in some people amazes me, especially since a lot of the examples I've seen are "educated" people

I did, and it was deleted within an hour. No idea why..... I'm working with Jon (OldP0rt) to get him added. He promised both of us a tracking number 2 weeks ago now, and still nothing, so he'll be added soon.

My nightmare scenario is just what some of these bastards have done, & I'd put it out there, but don't want to give any future bastards any ideas.

I always wanted to try sending a box packed with spray foam. It would probably smell awful.

No sloshing for sure, but it sucks when your 2011 Eclipse looks like this:

After looking at the photo above, I simply cannot fathom how any semi-intelligent person would think that is a good way to ship glass bottles filled with liquid. An idiot, no doubt.

I'm sorry but I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this. Very shitty method of packaging but a little funny.
