What is your opinion? How long do you let it go before you cancel shipment.
I'm only at 24 hours without communication on a trade, but my bottles are already in transit.

I'm not really worried about this trade, but going forward, how long do you let it go before pulling the plug?

    Thx,
    J

I think we need more information to help you out.
-What communication are you waiting on from your trade partner?
-Have you agreed upon which bottles to trade? I assume yes since yours are on the way
-Did you use the trading system & send a trade request? This should be done before you ship

I've never cancelled a shipment. If I feel iffy about a trade or if I don't have a piece of information that I think that I need or if their communication is spotty then I may hold off shipping for a couple of days. I'm not going to ship until I feel comfortable but understand that a lot of people (including me) use BA a decent amount but not every single day which is why it's good to get a cell number so that you have another means of communicating with them if they aren't on here for a couple of days. I had a trade partner that was sending me a ninja box but since I had not been on BA in over a month, he was able to text me to let me know that it was coming since the weather here had been really crappy

There are a lot of variables that will have an effect on the answer to this question:

Have you traded with this person before?
Do they have a solid rep?
Have they been reading posts in the last 24 hours?

I've never cancelled a shipment, but I've thought about it pretty hard once or twice.

I can see that this was your first trade in the words of Aaron Rodgers R-E-L-A-X , It's only been a day people do have other things to do besides be on BA 24/7. Now if it's been a couple of days and no communication then I would start to worry . Hopefully you checked the other person's trade stats and they are good to go . G/L

To limit risk as a new trader you should trade with someone that has a lot of trades under their belt with 100% feedback. Or, if you find someone willing to ship first, that would alleviate your fears though as a new trader this would be rare.

As a new trader you can almost always be expected to ship your box first and the other trader(if they are established with good rep) would likely send your box when he received the one you sent. This is very normal, but it's usually communicated that the new guy will "ship first".

I'm probably in the minority here, but I've traded with newer members with little to no trades and have never asked for them to ship first. We all have been there at one time or another, so I try and keep an even playing field by not making the newer trader feel "inferior" because they have less trades or no trades. Although, I've always used the trade request for "insurance" if something did go wrong. In the end, a trade can go bad whether you have zero trades or 100+ trades on either end of the spectrum. So to me it doesnt really matter who ships first. A person's only as good as their word, unfortunately not everyone's word is good and that's what the trade request/feedback is there to help "prevent". In the event you were to get screwed, there are plenty of BA's on this site that would help make you whole one way or another.
