Would this be enough (or too much) to pull a Speedway Vietnamese Coffee Stout or a 2014 BCBS Vanilla?

I know that the distro is fairly limited and it is an annual release so thought I would see what people thought. Cheers!

Speedway, yes easily. Vanilla Rye, I would doubt it right now, but maybe if you wait a month for the hype to die down...

Kind of what I figured. I think they are near equal in scarcity with the Abraxas maybe being a touch harder to come by, but the hype around all BCBS right now is pretty intense, that variation especially.

What's the price of Abraxas and availability versus BA Abraxas?

I don't feel like looking but I'm pretty sure there were a few threads offering 3-4 bottles of reg Abraxas for one Vanilla Rye. Not sure if they got done or not.

Thats fucking nuts! If its true. But it wouldnt surprise me really. People are going nuts over vanilla rye. 4 abraxas can easily run you 100 bucks. I spent about 45 on two bottles of regular abraxas

I have no idea about BA abraxas distro. I think it is a sold only at the brewery on a special day. Correct me if im wrong.
Regular abraxas was just recently in small batch numbers. A few stores in my area got a case in the last week or so. I got 2 bottles. One bottle was about 25 after tax, the other about 27 (two different stores).

Can you show me this thread? I don't believe that. Every thread has been for 1:1

Abraxas 1:1 for vanilla rye just seems way off.
I'm thinking at least 2:1 but maybe I'm way off.

Yeah I don't think 1:1 is fair but just saying what I've seen.

I JUST traded a Vietnamese Speedway 1:1 with Abraxas. One fantastic stout for another sounded fair to me. Ironically, a few bottles of Abraxas just showed up in San Francisco at City Beer for a one day bottle sale so it looks like its making its way out west.

Perennial is now distributed to Washington, and we got some Abraxas a week or two ago. Got one then and just randomly found one on the shelf today as well. Happy to have them in Washington! I know this doesn't help a lot, but it's not as rare as I once thought.

It seems like it certainly is getting significantly higher distribution this year. I'm wondering by how much they've expanded their production on it given just how limited it was just a few years back.

I'm curious why it's not fair?

    - Demand is very high for both. Maybe higher for Vanilla Rye but Vanilla Rye was 10x+ as many bottles. Is there 10x the demand? I doubt it.
    - Cost is more or less equivalent.
    - Quality is more or less equivalent.

So you're matching on cost, quality, and scarcity (which is a combo of demand and supply). Hype factor is big on Vanilla Rye now so maybe Abraxas adds a plus, but the post saying 3 or 4 to one is crazy. Now, that doesn't mean it hasn't gotten done ... but some people do crazy things or have more money than they know what to do with. ;-)

This is an attempt to be objective. I get that trading isn't always objective but 1:1 is certainly rational by the normal trading guidelines.

I don't know if anecdote means it's not still rare. ;-)

A handful of stores around seattle each got a case. So ... maybe 12 cases in Washington? I don't think any stores out of Seattle got it. Maybe I'm wrong. People in WA are also FAR more reluctant to drop $30 on a beer ($25 - $26 plus 9.5% tax) so it sat around a bit at a one place that I can think of which is not known as a hot release destination. But it certainly went fast at the major bottle shops (matter of hours at 1 per).

I don't think there's more than 2K to 3K bottles. The fact that Perennial did a number of launch events in Seattle and Cory King just visited may have helped us get a bit more distro (if you call 12ish cases a bit more).

I agree, was jurst saying that it got distribution outside of the state. And don't get me wrong, I don't give a shit about how "rare" something is. The beer is still fantastic. Luckily a bottle shop in olympia got some bottles, so I was able to get a couple there.

I can't find the thread, I'm assuming it was deleted.

Not saying it's fair or that 3 Abraxas is the going rate but I do recall on Sunday the 30th (two days after VR was released) seeing a post for 3 Abraxas for 1 Vanilla Rye b/c I contemplated doing it. I remember the date b/c I opened one of my two Vanilla Rye's that day and was torn about responding to the OP to take him up on his offer.

All I know is it was a lot harder to get in St Louis this year. Whether this is due to sending more to new markets, I couldn't say. There were rumors of a batch 2 but those may have just been rumors

Wow man, pretty bad timing opening up that vanilla rye.

Side quesiton, i see you have a lot of trades so maybe you can help me out since we are on the topic of abraxas. Would a regular abraxas land me 2 bottles of parabola?

possibly from a California trader who had access to a ton of Parabola but other than that? no chance IMO. Parabola:Abraxas = 1+:1
